| I found out that I will be spending a very good fishing weekend in the Milwaukee area (first weekend in Oct.). Just wondering if there are any good musky waters close by. Is it worth bringing the boat (from the twin cities) if I'll only be able to fish a half day or so? - Thanks, Ryan |

| Leave the boat and contact Capt Mike Koepp or TuffDaddy. They are both regulars here, and very good on that water. |

| Oconomowoc has some good fish too from what I hear. Or you could always stop in Madison on the way down or the way back.
But then if I was from Minnesota and I was going to South central WI, the first question I'd ask myself would be why do I want to fish THERE? |

| Trust me, I'm not thrilled about leaving my MN and NW WI lakes in the fall. Thanks for the replies, I'll start some research on those lakes. Just gotta put a time table together and see if I can sneak away long enough to get the boat wet that weekend. Or maybe getting some in-laws to spring for a guide or something.
Why are all the guides on that side of the state Captains? They must all fish on Lake Michigan? Right? Just as long as I don't pay somebody $300 bucks to go trolling. |

You don't have to feel bad leaving MN to fish these lakes, especially early October. Okauchee has some giants in it, and they run really fat when compared to other area lakes. It's a casting bite this time of year, and you won't see many people trolling either. Suckers get dragged (since we can use 3 lines a piece, it's always good to up your odds) but they are used in conjunction with throwing baits (at least for me this time of year).
If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email.
Also, many of the guides are captains down here due to the availability of Lake Michigan, but also to fish Green Bay or even the Winnebago Chain. |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Ryanm, October is big fish time around here. There is four good lakes all close. Jumping from lake to lake is not an issue since they area all close.
I second the casting bite in October for action. Suckers and casting produces quality and at times quantity. Trolling can rack up big numbers but they tend to be smaller fish on the average. Trophys or numbers is your choice or both. Lots of options. Also lots of good guides around here. Joel is a fishing machine and knows how to score fish. I can hold my own too.
Any questions please feel free to ask here or contact some of the area guides. We will make sure to get you on some action.

| Thanks guys, I knew there had to be some good lakes around there. I just need to find out what exactly that weekend has in store for me ( wedding obligations ) and hopefully I can find time to get on the water. A guide might be something to think about. Leaving my boat full of musky gear at a hotel all weekend doesn't sound that great. - Thanks again |

| I'd go with a guide. You won't have much time and why waste it learning. A guide will put you on fish . |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Pewaukee Lake is one of the best sucker bite lakes I've ever fished. You can run three lines here. Use them all. If you opt out of hiring a guide, talk to John Laimon at Smokey's or PM any of us down here that fish it. |

| Call Mike Koepp or Joel Michel, you won't be disappointed. |

| If just want action - hit Pewaukee or Wingra in Madison. If you want a beast, do Okauchee and Oconomowoc. I had lots of multiple big fish days for my clients on Oconomowoc last October. Giant Smallmouth and walleye as well. The water is super clear in October - you can sight fish down to 22 feet. We see 'em before we catch 'em. One sucker up, one down, cast topwater and dawgs and you will see a monster.

Captain Mike will give you a great day on the water. Pewaukee is his home but Okauchee and Oconomowoc offer some great chances to score big fish if the weather is right and Mike knows though lakes also....
You'll enjoy your time here either way...
