I have two of these units in my boat. I wanted to update the software in them to the most recent version so my waypoints are saved on both units. I understand I need a card reader to do this, but what else is involved? Is it true that the antenna needs to be updated as well? Both my units are networked with MNEA backbone.
Thanks

YOU HAVE TO UPDATE THE GPS PUCK BEFORE ANY UPDATE TO THE HEAD UNIT.
Sorry, but if you don't the update to the puck first, the update might not take and you end up sending the unit and puck back to Lowrance.
You need:
Card reader/ writer and two blank mmc cards if you need to update the gps. Download the gps update to the seperate card, or at least first and only to the mmc card. If you download the software update and gps update on the same card and plug the chip in the software update automatically downloads to the unit, which is why the two downloads can't be on the same card at the same time.

Here is the website. to see if it needs an update
http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/
or if you have the lgc-2000 puck-follow the download instructions

How to see if your LGC-2000 is already using version 1.9.0 software:
Press the MENU button .
Select NMEA 2000.
Select Bus Setup.
Select the LGC-2000. The software version will be displayed along with other data.
If your version is the same version listed above, there is no need to download the software.
