Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Has anybody tried one and used it with big spinner baits like DCG's?
We just got them in at my store and I'm very curious.

| Ahhhh, I see! Do these come with both the paddle and power handle? I too would be very curious to see what you all think about this reel for DCG's! |

Location: Oshkosh | Yes they do come with both and right now they have a rebate for a pair of Wiley X sunglasses for free http://www.abugarcia.com/prod.php?k=132609&sk=132584&u=REVO%20TORO I checked these glasses out at the Milwaukee show and they seem pretty sweet!

| They come in right or left hand in the 50 or 60 size and all are available in 5.4 or 6.4 gears. I used the 60 size 5.4 for DCG's last year and it worked just fine, I did put the power handle on it though as I would recomend for any musky reel and they all come with the power handle in the box. I would definatly opt for the 60 over the 50 unless you have very small hands. These reels fit the hand quite a bit nicer than the round reels so I don't see any reason to go with the 50 size. |

| Reelman, you say "it worked just fine" -- perhaps I'm reading into this, but you don't seem overly enthusistic about how they work with big blades. Can you clarify? |

| gopack, I didn't want to sound like an advertisement so I toned down my response. If you want my honest feeling about these reels it is that they are the neatest thing since sliced bread for musky fishing and that's no lie! They fit my hand great, are super smooth, and with the oversized gears seem to retrieve a big bait better than other reels I've used with the same gear ratios. I am leary to say that they are the ultimate DCG reel because I have not used all the monster reels such as the Trinidad or Saltists that seem to be the craze nowadays so I can't compare them to those but I know that IMHO it is the best reel I have ever used for them. Plus to be honest I do not find that DCG's are all that hard to retrieve, granted I am not trying to burn them at super human speeds but they are a lot easier to work than ripping a 10" Jake which I do quite often if they are retreived at a reasonable speed. I would rate them as equal to retreiving a DCG with a 7000 as far as energy required but without all the bulk and size of the 7000 plus they are just plain smoother. |

Location: Minneapolis,Mn | I have two Revo Toro's , both 50's and they work just as good as the 60's. I do have small hands, and they hold 10 more yards than ths Shimano Curado 300E, plus its rates at 22lb versus a 15lb drag as the Shimano. I have never needed the extra 50 yards on the 60's, plus the 60's are a bit cumbersome. My 2 cents. Tight Lines!!! |

| sbro, the other thing that a Toro has that a Curado does not have is a sychronized level wind so the line guide goes back and forth during the cast. This aids distance and helps prevent backlashes. |

Location: Indiana | Yes the come with the double paddle and power handle. The double paddle is even nice for that style, it has rubber grips and is pretty long. I bought the 50 just because of smaller size and palmability. The 60 seemed very wide, it would probably be palmable, but why buy a low profile if it isn't more comfortable. For what it is worth, I have pretty big hands. |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | I put a 50 and a 60 on an 8ft xh rod, the 60 seems to balance the rod out better, but the 50 is more palmable. What I really like is both have the bait clicker. |

| To each there own as far as which size is best and that's why Abu makes both sizes but I find that the difference in palming is not a issue at all TO ME, but I have pretty big hands. Regardless of model they are much lower than the standard round musky reel so even a Toro 60 will be lower and more comfortable than say a 6500C3.
But do remember that with the 50 you will have in essence a smaller diameter spool at the end of the cast when you start retrieving which will cause the reel to bring in less line. I can see applications for both but the original poster asked about using them for DCG's which I would prefer to have as big of diameter spool at the end of the cast as possible. When the super lines first came out a lot of guys went to 5500 size reels because of the smaller diameter line and it seems that most have gone back to the the 6500 size reels I think because of the very issue I mentioned and these reels have essentially the same capacities as the 5500 and 6500.
Obviously either one will work, just choose the one you prefer and you will be good! |

Location: Aurora, IL. | Gopackgo,
Only a few folks got the Toro in time to test them last year. All reports I've heard have been positive. Albeit brief usage, I would have liked a season or two under heavy use to base an opinion. I got two of them and will be working them hard starting within the next two weeks in So Ill. and the Cave.
I would recommend the 5.4:1 ratio if Cowgirls are thrown, more cranking power.
The extra drag is nice (24lbs) and speaks to the potential durability of the reel but I got along just fine with the 18lbs shimano has on the Curado 300DSV and Calcuttas just fine. If this reel can perform like a Calcutta and have the low profile of a Curado 300dsv then its a big winner.
I blew a Curado 300DSV up in one day one MilleLac's throwing Cowgirls. I dont fault the reel, I was burning them. I swear I could feel the reel torcing in my left hand while reeling. The Curado is a perfect reel for just about anything else but Cowgirl's (IMHO).
Good Luck

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The TORO 60 will come in a 4.1:1 gears in late summer, for DCG10-13 get the 5.4:1 gears or get the 4.1:1 gears when they come out. You will burn up the 6.3:1 gears if you burn DCG10-13. I have 4 Toro's reels and they are the reel deal. They have a dual anti-rev, so you will love them as a jerk bait reel.

Location: Oshkosh | Is that the Toro that is going to be in the 4.1:1 or the Revo Winch? I heard that the winch was the one coming out in that gear ratio. |

| Pikemaster, Just to set things straight here the Toro MIGHT come out in 4.1 gears, nothing is solid on this yet. If, and again I say IF it does come out odds are it will not be until late fall 2009 at the earliest. Abu is waiting to see how the Toro's do with the 8 SKU's they already have before they introduce 4 more SKU's in a lower gear ratio. |

I was under the impression that the only gear ratio's currently available for the Abu Revo Toro was either 6:3:1 or 5:4:1, did they make a 5:3? |

| Does anyone know whether this reel comes in a 2008 versus 2009 model? If so, are there any differences? I see that some people are selling these pretty cheap on ebay (like $70 off msrp) and I was wondering if perhaps those are an older model or something?
Thanks for the feedback! |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Its 5.4:1, not 5:3....I opened up both the 50 and the 60 last night and popped the spools out, they look like the same diameter to me, but obviously the 60 is wider. I decided to add the Power handle to our display.......had 6 guys standing at the counter gawking. |

| seeking 54, I did do some trolling with the T60 but not a lot by any means. I don't really see the need for a low profile for a rod that sits in a rod holder and gets trolled with. |
