I have a double buzz bait that I retied all new hair and marabou on and I want to add a large trailer hook that I tied also with hair to make the bait considerably bigger. My question is what is the best way to attach this hook? Also the trailer hook Im using doesnt fit over the regular hook without slightly bending down the barb of the buzz bait hook. So the problem is I dont want it to come off, obviously.
Any suggestions?

the main question was what to use to hold the hook on the other hook so it doesnt fall off?

Did mean to attach the tr hook with a piece of medical or rubber plastic tubing.

Joe:
Get yourself a different hook. Eagle Claw makes a Musky trailer hook with a large ring or eye in sizes 5/0 - 8/0 that will easily slip over the stationary hook barb. Ditto for Mustad. You have two options to prevent the trailer hook from slipping off. You can secure it slipping a small piece of 1/8" hook tubing over the eye of the trailer hook before piercing the stationary hook and slipping it over the barb.
Another option woud be to place the trailer hook over the stationary hook and then slip a skirt collar (same band that is used to secure rubber skirts together) after it. This will not allow the trailer hook to slip off or pass over the barb of the stationary hook. I hope that helps you.

knowing which hooks you're using would help a lot.

an 8/0, 7/0, 6/0, etc. mustad will fit over the same identical size hook. when assembling, you need to point the barb of the hook into the "fold" of the eye and it will snap over... basically where the bent over part meets the shank to form the eye, right at that crease.

it will not come back off. this is how a lot of the high quality spinnerbaits do it. give it a try and it will make sense.

using a larger eye and securing it with tubing can work it's way off via muskies (think of the hook tangles in the net for instance).

With that hook you already have tied....as others said, you tied onto the wrong hook...here's an idea I've used...try opening the eye of that hook by pounding a nail through the eye to open it up, you'l have to hold the hook with a robo-grip/vice grip/etc , and drive the nail through it into soft wood like a 2x4...once you open the eye up slip it over the barb and then sqeeze it back shut with the robo grip/vice grips...shame to waste a nicely dressed hook

good idea Cowboyhannah, I tied a 8/0 sluggo hook, it looked like it would be a decent choice cuz of the long shaft, good gap and its heavy-duty-ness. Didnt realize it wouldnt go over the other hook til after I tied it. I will try that idea if it doesnt work Im sure I can use it somewhere.
