Location: New Brighton, MN | I'm planning my summer trips, and I think i'll hit Vermillion at some point. I was wondering what time of year people prefer for this body of water? I've only been up there once, and it was a short trip in September. No fish in the boat, but I raised a few big fish, and had a good time.
Are there times to avoid?
Thanks

Location: Mallard Island Lake Vermilion MN | Agree no best time...she is a beauty....love my five plus months a year on her.....ahhh just fishen.
Each season has its ups an down...go have some fun hunting a few up.....still lots an lots of big fish.
Learn where the food these fish eat like to hang an up yer odds.
Have even more fun going deep an shallow in same day...finding fish like that is a hoot......fish on or not.
Don't just settle on a rock an go round an round thru the night cause ya seen one at Noonoclock....any one can get on them fish. Fun but you miss out on the whole point of the full Vermilion experience.
But maybe your just looking for a big fish so depending when yer up...just maybe go do that.
Do some home work, have some fun...go enjoy the lake for the many many things she has to offer.
Hope you enjoy it.........fish of all kinds biting some place sometime...muskie fish too.
Always someone getting on them...travel light lure wise and go enjoy it.
Be safe, have fun, best of luck to you what ever time you chose.
Keep on rocken.

Location: MN | You can catch big fish out of Vermilion all year long from opener to ice-up. Busiest months are July and August. |

Location: Chaska MN. | July and August are the months that are very busy on the weekends, September is awesome with not nearly as much competition for spots and the markers are still on the lake to help get around, have fun and stick a pig. |

I float or just sit on my ROCK with my head sticking out of water.
LOL
People drop by an talk to the head of me.
The one an only musky T.
LOL.
Maybe go out a bit an have a few laughs...hunt up a pretty one?
Might be good thing if Willis joins in on the muskiefirst outing up that a way...who knows?
Fish on or not its all good stuff.
Feeling fine, went to Wild hackey game agin last night with group of friends had a blast....cancer rehab can be a nag but it is what it is. Feeling fine an ever so handsome.

| I'm going to take some time early this year, and not just for muskies. V is a fabulous smallmouth fishery and is great for walleyes. I'm going during the warming periods in early June with the full moon. That way my daughter and I can pound smallies and wallies and I can still toss some muskie lures from time to time. Fishing shallow in the spring is a great way to mark up your GPS map too.

Good way to hit the lake.
Bass'en is a hoot at that time..pretty easy to have some real fun with many numbers an sizes of fish...wallys easy to find also...great lunches, dinners an for some even breakfasts are made with fresh caught wallys.
Plus while yer up hunting lessor fish from miskie fish you can scout out all kinds a cool places big muskie fish hang, use, sleep, roam...EAT!!!
Been doing just that for long time with my wife, friends on lake an me four hounds.
See what ice moved in or out...see things you have not before while only casting working big muskie fish....so later in season you know where to place lure offering so big muskie fish can have a nice long look.
See why fish lay where they do...how they sometimes can only come out to you one way...ambush points an other such fun stuff.
Where one lure might work better over another an all that happy thinking mans type fun stuff.
Really helps where a map simply can't.
Lot of guys n gals I know that are hardcore muskie fishers living on or around the lake don't fish muskie fish to hard opener to bout second week into season...like to give fish extra long time to recoup from spawn an winter.
Then they is ready to go a few rounds come first warm water an eager to chew.
Photo up an have some fun.
Not saying we don't cast some for fun to them but just don't hit em to hard right off...so many other fishys to play with..sunfish is a hoot as are bass as mentioned...so many an so big...plus wallys can be some real fun an very tasty...Mmmmmmmm.
Vermilion Crappies can be fun but now that can be a real test of yer fishing skill...find them an yer in like Flint eh...not an easy task...but they are big, beautiful an lots of fun.
No sweat cast'n for some also yer self...they do bite at that time....many many big fish caught early to later in June.
Fun simple stuff.
Oh yeah.
Kind a not realted to post but.....cancer can kiss my %$#@#!!
So far we whooped its butt good they keep telling us.
Getting way better more each day...feeling great...went to a couple
Wild hackey games this month an even rode me snow machine some round musky acres here in our winter home at Chisago City woods.
Might be going to late show tonight see me buddy JASON Vorhees have some fun at camp Crystal lake.
Only down side of rehab is goofy pills have to do twice a week. Make me feel crappy next day after eating them...body don't like em period. Just don't feel like me or doing anything...but keep bizzy around home here an always have something to smile about.
Everything a go I'm told for no cancer junk to return.
Thanks fer asken.
Next visit to magic doc is end of month.
De Vinci method surgery is a super star in my book....those guys work magic....no big gutting like a trout of old days an more things can be done than in not to distant past.
Funny thing...it dose look like I have had a date with an Uzie on me belly....7 nice little 1/2 inch holes...ZING, Zip, Zam!!!
Thinking what Tats to get to cover them up?
LOL
Booking half days a lot to start 2009 season...as is my normal deal.
I like them best as can still have fun, show a bunch of stuff I have learned about these fish an the lake an save everyone some money and leave me time to fish with wife, lake area friends an old clients keep coming back to bug me to no end out ta the island. Great stuff.
Plus I get some $coin$ to do it over again an buy me an the hounds something to chow an my Bonnie some flowers.
I'll be round lake some place....if ya see me / us be sure to give a holler...always fun to share info or just relax an have some laughs.
Don't know any more or less than anyone esle that likes to fish muskie fish round here, hell I learn new stuff everytime out.
I just have fun doing it an helping others have more fun on their limited time on the beautiful waters we call VERMILION!
Sorry my finger rallel so much....I'll go away now.
LOL x 109873465754940 + 5
Have a great weekend.
