Crossing Cones with your electonics - any fix?

Subject: Crossing Cones with your electonics - any fix?

Hey guys,
I'm running a Lowrance X-75 on the bow and an X-65 on the console of my new rig. I like to keep both graphs on while fish (courtesy for my partner... and I'm too lazy to turn it off). I've been having trouble when fishing in 30-50 feet of water. Both graphs go on the fritz and tell me it is like 5000 feet deep. The system on the bow is more sensitive (puck transducer) and kicks out first. Secondly, this does not happen on all lakes. Some lakes I can fish in 40 feet of water with no problems. Why????

Also, if I am in heavy cover (weeds) or the baitfish are really thick, the signals get disrupted and the same thing happens. Is there any way to fix this problem without just having to turn off one unit while I am fishing?

Thanks for your help.

I run a X85 on dash and X65 on the bow, and never had any problems.

I always thought that as long as you stay with the same brand you should be fine.

Don't quote me, But I believe that your problem is that the X65 & X75 run on the same frequency. I think that the X85 runs on a different frequency. This would explain your problems and Jason not having problems. It could also be because of the cone "angle". As you get into deeper and deeper water the base of the cone gets larger and larger thus it is possible to overlap and have problems with the signal from one sounder showing up on the other one and vice versa. Narrower angle transducers might help. Otherwise you may be forced into shuttingone unit off when in deep water. To explain why you have problems in one lake or area and not others could simply be bottom content. Hard bottom reflects a greater more powerful signal. Thus when on hard bottom you may see interference at a much shallower depth as compared to soft bottom. Hope this helps.

Anyone wanna buy one of my units (ha ha)? Anyone know if you can still buy the X-85 (and where) or will I need the new series that replaced it?

Last time I was at Bass Pro Shops, they had the x85 on sale for $399.

Try setting the console unit on manual, and set the senstivity to the minimum the unit will dispaly clearly. Also, set the Noise Reject on high. May help clear things up.

The front sonar needs to be clear for you, so use the noise reject to see if it helps with the other sonar's signal crossover.

If you are over soft bottom, much of both unit's signal is absorbed, VS hard bottom where both are reflected back to the surface. Could explain why the interference is different on varied waters.

I don't know if this is possible, but if Lowrance was smart (oooh I hope they don't get mad at me for saying that) they would have a frequency SETTING for guys that want to run multiple units at the same time. Just set each of your units to a different frequency range and this problem goes away.

This is totally rediculous. When I am running my rig I want maximum sensitivity to find baitfish, thermocline, etc. and the same goes for when I'm on the casting platform!!! Constantly making these adjustment is just not practical.

Maybe I'll unload half of my Lowrance units and get myself a Vexilar Flasher for my console!!!

Now, if I was simply a shoreline swinger or weed whacker, I wouldn't have an issue... but I spend 75% of my time in 30-80 feet of water!!!!

Sorry for my crying.... but this kind of inconvenience really urks me! Looks like I will just be powering on and off every time I make a drift.
