My online vendor is abu garcia. Try sending them an email or calling-they're usually REALLY nice and send one for free or cost of shipping. I seem to lose those on all of my abus, i'm sure they get that request every day.

I have a few extra black plastic covers....go to a hardware store and re-tap the hole for the next size up. PM me if you want me to drop one in the mail.

Hey Mike,

I get replacement parts from these guys....
http://www.southwesternparts.com/

You seach by your reel type/number, then a diagram will pull up showing all the part numbers and you just add them to your cart. Pretty user friendly. You can easily get parts within a week. And they're great when you have to call in with questions. This is the place most reps go to to get replacement parts when they are repairing your reels for you. Might as well skip the middle man.

If you do the work yourself, it beats the heck out of sending it in anyplace to get repaired. Way cheaper!!! There was also a good thread about taking apart and maintaing abu reels....not sure if it's still anchored.

I have three 6601C4's and have backup parts for most everything that I would need. When I replace a worn part that's not totally useless, I keep it just in case I'm broken down in the future. Once a year I'll break them all down completely and check for any worn parts, greese/oil in the correct spots, and I'll be ready for springtime. Also, I have a small bag that I keep with my tackle...oil and greese, the handle nut and nut lock, the little screws that sometimes fall out, a clutch arm, worm gear, pawl, and some bearings, and a couple of the gears. It may seem random, but it's nice to know I won't be completely stuck...espeically if you do any fly-in's.

Halfpint, that's an awesome idea.

I've actually considered buying three of each reel for that very reason -- one to use, one for backup, one for parts.

That's mostly because I'm not organized enough to actually order parts before they wear out OR keep them with me in the boat, though.
