Thinking about getting a boga grip to hold muskies with. Is this a good idea? Why or why not?

I love mine. I have one from bass pro that I got for like $25.00. It makes things a lot easier for me.

They are a good tool for controlling a musky in the net. Make sure you support the body when lifting them with a boga as the pulling force is at the tip of the jaw instead of underneath with a gill hold. If you are just using a boga grip for landing, you will have to play the fish to tire it more than if you used a net. It will cost you some fish in the long run. The tool has it's places, it can be effective.

I would also suggest the real boga grip and not an imitation. One thing that is ultra important is the swiveling head. First thing you will notice when you lip one is that the musky will start twisting and rolling around. Wihtout a swiveling head, that is some mean torque on the jaw. Most cheap ones do not swivel and should be avoided.
