Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I stay at Andy Meyers Lodge and love the service I receive there and fishing on Eagle Lake. There are many lodges on Eagle Lake but you will get a huge jump start by staying at Herbie's place.
I have spoken to people who have done the bus trip to Temple Bay. I have heard mostly good things about the trip itself, I am sure the service is very adequate at Temple Bay as well. |

Location: N.FIB | I was talking with the guy at the temple booth at the chi show, they were just guests running the booth not owners. They talked about it like it was a great place to stay and great service, they always drove up,never took the bus. They didn`t sound like big muskie fisherman either,if I was to go up I would have to stay at andy meyers lodge, heard too many good things about it. |

Location: lansing, il | andy meyers all the way. its more than just a place to go fishing. if you go there with an open mind and are willing to listen and learn you will be amazed how much a better fisherman you can become in one week. |

Location: Watertown, MN | Temple is more taylored to walleye, Mike a guide at Andy Meyes worked there growing up. The bus rides I have heard some horror story, that it is a drink fest and the bus tends to smell as the drive goes on. I am sure it all depends on the group on the bus. If you want a first class lodge on Eagle, Andy Meyer is your place, and they will get you on fish Musky, walleye or what ever your heart desires.

| Before my first Canada trip, I went to the All Canada show and spent the whole day collecting pamphlets, talking to owners, etc. Decided on Eagle lake because of its reputation, and recommendations from several friends. I looked really hard at Temple Bay, and finally decided to try Andy Myers Lodge first, and then maybe consider trying some other resorts down the road.
I never made it to Temple...
From what I could gather from reading their promotional materials, and talking to them at the shows they are probably on par with AML. But after a week at AML I didn't see any reason to go anywhere else. And I probably won't ever go anywhere else. Not on Eagle at least. The food is like what you would eat at home or at mom's house, and I mean it when I say you really have to work pretty hard to eat it all. (they'll bring more if you ask, I never asked) The staff, the guides, the atmosphere... After a few days it feels like home. I can honestly say that I have not been dissapointed in anything I've experienced at AML, excpet a few really tough days of fishing. But then even a bad day on Eagle is better than a good day in most other places. |

Location: (South of the 218) | KustomBoy asked about the Bus Trip and got a commercial for AML in return. I don't mean to speak for him but I don't think that's what he was asking for....
I have not done either but have stayed at another unmentioned Eagle Resort and had a great time. I have though considered the Bus Trip myself and wondered what other people had experienced.

Location: Coal City Illinois | I've been fishing Eagle for ...20 years now! wow, time does fly! We started out at Evergreen Lodge...+/- 4 years, went down to Century Lodge for a few years, tried Temple Bay 1 year, then Fin and Feather for a couple years and just booked our 7th year at AML.
I wouldn't go anywhere else but AML now. If Muskies are your main target there isn't a better group of guys on Eagle then Herbie and his entire guide staff! These guys live to fish for Musky! They have become GOOD FRIENDS!
The accomadations have done nothing but gotten better. Herbie has put a lot back into the camp to make it one of the best on Eagle! The boats are all well maintained and the guys at the dock will take good care of you!
We are all good eaters and have never had a bad meal...Tracey and the gang do one hell of a job!
There's some great fishing right close to camp...Muskie, Walleye,Trout and smallies. If the fish aren't moving near camp they'll put you on fish where ever they are!
Check em out! I don't think you can go wrong!
Good Luck, Dennis |

| I agree, he asked about a bus trip, not AML.
seems to me unless you have an opinion about the bus trip that he was asking for, you should keep your AML commercial to another thread maybe?! |

Location: Coal City Illinois | WOW, didn't mean to offend anybody. Did the bus trip and just wanted to let Kustomboy know about my experience.
Forgot I was supposed to stick to one subject only. By the way the bus trip was ok but not my cup of tea.
Go where ever you want. If your on Eagle you'll always have a great time!
Sorry Boys if I didn't respond the way YOU wanted me to!
Good Luck, Dennis |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Ask Eagle on a Muskie board and Herbie's camp and reputation will come up, repeatedly. Still answers to the original question, too. |

Location: (South of the 218) | Don't be sorry Dennis. I'd just like to hear a bit more about the bus trip.... I've heard and read a bunch about AML over the years. I'm just curious about some of the particulars of a Road Trip like that.
By the way, when I went, I stayed at Cedar Point Lodge and had a fantastic trip too.... Eagle is a great place.... we boated our share of muskies and even had a 44", 47", 47" day.... not because of the resort we were staying at.

| Thanks everyone for the opinions and those who helped bring this back on track. I really don't need a review of Eagle Lake or AML as I've heard plenty about both. I'm just curious how people feel about Temple Bay Lodge and the bus trip. The concept is really interesting. |

| I agree that the original question was specific to the bus gig.
I'm sure if you have a group that you're traveling with that are fun, it could be a blast, but otherwise, who knows.
When Herbie initially bought AML, he did offer the bus trip. After a few years of that, he discontinued it for various reasons...I won't say more. I know Steve very well and he is the kind of guy that will give you the shirt off his back and do whatever he can to help any situation...trust me on this. We've spent weeks together in the mountains elk hunting on several trips and alot of time in camp together in Canada. Maybe give him a call and talk it over with him??
Either way, have fun whatever you do...
Is there open water yet???????
I tell ya, every weekend recently we keep getting this cold snap and ice fishing is not fun!! As I skim holes, I get visions of a topwater crawling across a nice calm bay!!! |

| this past year was my first year on Eagle and I stayed at AML. My brother and I jumped on muskihntr and sleds trip.
both my brother and I boated 50s and saw fish that dwarfed the ones that we boated.
of course these fish weren't only privy to those staying at AML, but Herbie told us what to do, what to throw and stick with it and the fish showed up as planned.
I've spent years on LOTW without a 50, then boating one and seeing several, no reason to go anywhere but eagle and stay at AML. |
