I've heard the same about them being the same as the Luna.
I replaced my record with the luna and absolutely love it. i like my Luna WAY better than that record.

i've never heard / seen anything "official" but i beleive the croix reels are in fact made by daiwa. with that being said, my lunas have worked flawlessly going on 4 years now. daiwa's customer service is second to none being that i lost a part out of one of them while being curious / lubing and an email to them had that part in my mailbox free-of-charge in two days! reels are very quiet / smooth / durable in my opinion and i would buy another in the future if needed...

I bought an AC300 last year and love it! I was kind of worried about throwing 10's, but it handles them just fine, the handle really helps. When I talked to a st. croix salesman he did say that they were made by daiwa, and the 300 is basically a Luna. The good thing is that the 300 is $10 cheaper, too! I like the silver look vs the gold also. They run about $230 so if you don't mind spending the money they're really worth it. I have never tossed a record, but I would say that it would be an upgrade.
