Location: Minnesota | I have seen quite a few people on here talk about this rod. I am wondering what you use the rod for application wise? I am pondering build on the 20/25 blank out to 9' for
plastics, cranks ripping and twitching, and maybe some blades.
thanks

| I have a 25 right now and am have a 20 built as I speak, both are 9 footers.
here's what I throw on the 25. and what I am going to throw on the 20. I would say the 20 is a more med/heavy and the 25 is a hvy.
25: Double 13,10's Mag Dawgs, big joes, triple d's,10'' Jakes, 9''grandmas, 9'' big games, big slammers, It will throw really and large lures except for pounders, well you could but its not recommended.
20: all topwater, double 10's slow rolled and smaller tails, d raiders, spinnerbaits and really and of the smaller stuff(smaller cranks, twitchbaits, reg dawgs etc).
Really imo you only need 3 rods and can cover the whole spectrum:
G loomis 20
G loomis 25
and a calstar for the pounders,sucker rod,trolling. | |

| I have both a steel15 and steel 20 built to 8'9". I also have a 25 in the basement that is not finished yet. In my opinion the 20 is a good all around rod except for plastics. (blades up to #9 colorados and some #10, top water, average sized cranks) The 20 will handle regular dogs but it really is a 1-4 oz rod in my opinion. Mskyhntr hit it right on the head with what the 20 should be used for. It has a softer tip, but loads up nice in the mid section and has more power than u might think based on the soft tip. these blanks are extremely strong. The 25 is a little light for pounders but will work great for mag dogs and big blades. the 25 also has a little softer tip so u are able to throw lighter baits with it as well. depending on what size baits u plan on ripping and twitching willl be the determining factor. 5-7" in spring twitch baits I might consider the 15 steel. If you are after 10" jakes and 10" slammer style baits go 25. | |
