Doug J sent me an email today telling me it was -39 degrees this morning. I let him know it was 121 degrees hotter than that in Cali. Sure does suck to be in the Midwest right now.

82 degrees for me this morning

Today I really miss working for the water dept. 3 water main breaks in the last 24hrs. and 2 are still running because of 4 feet of frost. Frost is harder to dig through than concrete. I miss bending over in the water and slop sholeving like a tunnel rat only to come up the ladder and freeze solid. I think I'll stay in and make bucktails all day....unless I feel like napping.
Beav....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
What the hell are you doing up at 12:21? Taking a P I hope, or did you have to stoke the fire?

Mr. Worrall, In spite of your love and repeated involvement in the national movement, I don't think that today or the next few days, would be favorable for STREAKING!
Just think what the thermometer would be reading if it wasn't basking in the sunshine!

4 hours to get to work this morning. If I can make it home in 3 I will be a happy man. Then it's on to shioveling the 8" or so of snow that has piled up. Well, and this:

SNOW IS DIMINISHING IN COVERAGE ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AS THE SYSTEM MOVES OFF TO THE EAST. STRONG AND GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE NEW SNOW THAT FELL TODAY.
IN ADDITION... TEMPERATURES WILL PLUMMET TONIGHT TO 10 TO 15 BELOW ZERO OVER NORTHERN ILLINOIS... AND 5 TO 10 BELOW ACROSS NORTHWEST INDIANA. THIS... COMBINED WITH A BITING NORTHWEST WIND WILL CREATE DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS OF 30 TO 40 BELOW ZERO TONIGHT. THURSDAY NIGHT WILL BE EVEN COLDER WITH LOWS APPROACHING 20 BELOW IN SOME AREAS... THOUGH WIND SPEEDS WILL BE DIMINISHING.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW. TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

Speaking of garbage, thats what I do for a living and I can't wait til tommorow at 4 a.m. Predicted -20 in the cities w/out the windchill .
Garbage trucks don't seem to operate real well when it's this chilly.

Steve- That thermometer doesn't go low enough to register what it's like in hell in the winter. Doug J & Dick P are closer than we are to hell (Canada-Alaska-Siberia-etc.) and I bet their thermometers go lower than yours!

Still cold enough to discourge outdoor bladder relief!

Stay warm!

You guys who live where you miss out on this weather don't know what you are missing...went outside with the kids today and blew some bubbles..they freeze before hitting the ground....spray them with lacquer and decorate them for christmas ornements...only works at -30f or lower...now tell me, does whale watching beat that?

That sounds pretty cool. Never heard of doing that. But I've spent 23 years in WI, I know what I'm missing...and that is a hot walleye bite in these frigid temps!

Im sorry, Sworall... you're deeply mistaken with your statement that Hell has frozen over... The Minnesota Vikings are not in the playoffs anymore, so thus they arent going to win the Super Bowl, so thus, Hell has not and will not freeze over...

i lived in Minot ND for a few years and it got friggen cold up there, i can honestly say i worked the OSY at Menard's during a day when it was -45, actual air temp!!! no joke!!! that was insane, i just let my truck run ALL DAY LONG!!!

now back in Iowa, any NEGATIVE temps make the news, well, this am in NW Iowa, it was -26.... that is as cold as i ever can remember in Iowa!!!

Quit Your Whinning!
I believe all of you need to get a grip!
It is time for all of you to acknowledge that we are in the middle of the worst period of global warming ever!
And while you are you are acknowleging this propaganda....er..a....I mean these indisputable facts, you need to also accept the fact that you, your tow vehicle and boat are the root cause of all global warming!

You know it's cold when you can't take your beer out with you while you catch a walleye on your tip-up. Darn beer freezes to quicky.

Chilling in the ice shanty watching tv drinking beer while the tip-ups are doing all the work in the cold. Life is good, enjoy the ride while you can.

Ice Armor is the answer for the cold. That grey stuff rocks. Sweetest suit I have ever owned.

Is this all the colder it can get. Come on, its not that bad.
