how do you make/install the prop for a rotating topwater lure? either a head- or tail-rotating bait where it's actually seated in the wood, not attached to the back like a globe.

i'd like to play around a bit...

I've replaced a few on LOWriders. Most of the baits like that have a slot cut into the wood, the end of the blade is inserted, and a staple or screw hold it in, then just bend the blade to shape.

Check out the Superhumper or LOWRiders for a couple options. I've found it is very important to anchor the blade into the wood with a screw or staple, adhesives just don't cut it.

I have seen a couple different ways to do this. Using a band saw cut a slot about 1/4" deep in the wood and seat the blade in the slot with some adhesive along with screw(s) or staples to hold it. I have also seen the slot cut to the center of the lure where the tube is and then wrap the tail base around the tube and slide both pieces in the tail, again securing with a glue or adhesive. This method is more of a pain but the blade stays more secure.

Hope this helps.

I would like to try and make some topwater prop lures myself, I know from I guy I talked to in the past he said buy the metal props from stamina or moores... something like that anyway... but I wasn't sure if I would be able to just buy a few of the metal props from places like stamina or moores, I thought that I would have to purchase a whole bunch of them... does anyone know?
Iif I can't buy just a few metal props from those sites does anyone here have a few they could give to me? I could pay for them...

Well, I looked at the stamina site and seen that you can by 5 of the tally wacker props for 2.50... even then, I don't really need five I only need one, so like I said if anyone had a spare one, Ill buy it from yah.

I use a dremmel to cut into the head with one of the small sanding disks. Then two ton epoxy it in. I tried a few tests with the screws vs epoxy cement and both held the single prop rock solid.
