Ok so the kickin slab seems to be a poor choice for the canals in the spring (see kickin slab post) , any thougts about 5" frye daddy's? I have an 8" jake in crappie pattern but I think the shape, depth and action would be more important than pattern. Thanks again for your imput!

Frye Daddys aren't bad lures, but I read your previous post and I don't think they'll work for what you're targeting. I would try some small, shallow crankbaits. Crane 306 or Crane 206 with some kind of white in the pattern would be an excellent choice.
