| I'm looking to buy a new rod in the next couple of months. I want to stick with St. Croix, and I'm looking at either the PM80HF or TM86HF. They have the same weight rating. Has anybody used both of these rods? If so, how would you compare them? I'm going to primarily throw big blades with some big cranks thrown in also. The rod I used for the past year is going to be my backup rod. I feel like I lost too many fish with the rod I have now, so I'm looking for a rod with aslightly softer tip. Also, does anybody like the split grip on the Legend Tournament series. The foregrip looks to be substantially smaller, which I don't think I care for.

Location: Oshkosh | They are takling about this issue of the split grip right now on the musky hunter forum with Heiting and Saric adding their experiences. I have used both series of rods and I would recommend the TM86HF.
