I thought I would share a report for the Bass Fisherman. I headed down to Coffeen Lake south of Springfield (Hillsburo) for a day and a half of Power Plant Bassin. The Power Plant Lakes in IL. Have a 25 hp limit but trolling motors can be used on Big Boats.I just head into the wind in the morning when I have my Bassboat. We found bass by the green weeds which were easy to see in coves. I caught 25 and my partner caught about 15. The 4 biggest were about around 3 lbs. I chose Coffeen over Sangchris(About 15 miles north),Baldwin, Lake of Egypt, and Newton because about 3 years ago on New Years eve we hit the Stripers for the last hour of daylight. We must have caught 12(7-9lbs and lost just as many.We were hoping the striper would be schooled and feeding again. I live in Chicago area and in the Winter temps are can be 15 -20+ degrees warmer in Central IL. and we are only 4 hours north of most these Lakes.

What a great lake that doesn't get as much attention as some the other cooling lakes. Last year on the first weekend in may I was down there with two others got a sunburn and caught over 25 fish myself avg 2 lbs biggest 4 were all over 4. Havent run into any of those stripers yet though.
