Location: Ames, Iowa | I have a new boat (new for me). It has 2004 starter and deep cy batteries.
Are Optima batteries worth the extra money? Where did you find the best price on them? How much do they weigh compared to a 24 or a 27 Interstate? What about these Trojan batteries? Seen em at Sportsman's Warehouse. I've done an archive search going back to this summer (maybe not far enough back). I'll check the archive again but any of your current opinions, info appreciated.

| Trojan AGM's are the best batteries out there. Get the 31 series for your trolling |

Location: Otsego, MN | I have Optimas in both my boats and love them, I've never had a problem. I hear the Trojans are excellent as well. I can't remember what I payed for them, but not cheap for sure. I've never had my trolling motor go powerless even on a 10 hour tournament day when running the trolling motor very hard in wind. |

Location: Wallingford, KY | As the factory batteries went in my boat, I have replaced with Optima. I run 2 up front for the trolling motor and 1 in the back for big motor and electronics. I would strongly recommend the Optimas. I've been running them for 2 yrs now without a single problem. They hold a charge seems like forever and when they do need recharged, do so very quickly.
I think the reliablilty and piece of mind, knowing that you will have the power when you need it more than offsets the price.
As my other batterys go in the trucks and tractors, they will be replaced with Optimas also.
I have purchased all mine online from the following link, they are cheaper and will be delivered to your doorstep asap.

Location: N.FIB | my cousin bought an optima and it outlast my battery bigtime,he only has a 12v trolling motor and when we go for a week or weekend I bring a spare battery.I can tell when my battery is hooked up compared to his,the optima has alot more juice longer than mine.I`ve always bought mine from walmart which has pretty high amps on it compared to other batterys, but if I have the extra money my next battery will be an optima. |

| Optimas are great from the standpoint that they are more durable, resistant to vibration and can sit for long periods without recharging, I love them.

| Try Napa orbital batteries and use all Deep cycle. Even for starting the deep cycles have more than enough amps to crank the motor. They are smaller, Lighter weight, and you can get them warrantied at any Napa if you ever need to. Price is the same or less than any of the other batteries you are loking for. We have made the change and so far no has had a problem with them. We are all going on 3+ years and there is no reason to think about changing them out at this time. |

I agree Optima's are really great batteries. However, no lead-acid battery, including Optima "spiral wound technology" can sit for a long periods of time in a discharge state without recharge. If you're not recharging your batteries as soon as possible, you are causing damage.... You will eventually pay for not recharging in a reasonable time! A couple of days- OK. Weeks-not OK! But, it's your money, not mine.
