I wish I had that kind of talent. I had Terry Doughty do it. Of all the artists I looked at his paintings were the most lifelike.

It's comparable to having a reproduction done depending on how large you want it. Something 24 x 36 would be more . This is 16 x 29 .

sweet!
i've been considering the same thing and looking at Rodd Umlauf.
i like Doughty's work a lot though too.
the thought of a commissioned painting is very appealing because it's so unique.

Umlauf was where I first got the idea to have a painting done of "my next 50 incher". He was the only one I knew of that did commissioned work. I got out all my old Musky Hunter calanders to see whose work I liked best. Doughtey's were what I liked best and thought were the most lifelike. I took pictures of the rock ,the saddle ,and the full moon rising ,described the weeds around it and this is what he came up with . I'm very happy with "Moonlight Musky".

Great Idea and a very nice painting! But, why is this on a cinder block wall in the basement? An item of such beauty should be prominently displayed in one's living room!

Wow that really is pretty cool and would make a great gift for someone special or yourself.

Surprised that nobody mentioned that your rod is in a bad position for a hook set! LOL Very nice piece of art work!

Thanks for sharing!

Tell that to the wife. She puts here foot down on fish. I have grouse and pheasants in our bedroom. She has Kinkades in the living room. Fish go in the basement.

Dude, your wife must be Smokin' Hot to enforce that rule! No matter, the only course of action now is you should Remodel the Basement! Makes for a good winter project. Good luck with that! What's a Kinkade??

I got lucky! When I got my pictures developed of my 44 1/2, it almost exactly matched the fish in framed print by Scott Zoelick hanging in my office. The coloring and markings are perfect. And I didn't have to pay extra to have it done!

Very nice.

I love having big printers handy. I've printed some BIG fish for some friends on banner and posters and they turn out pretty sweet.

Brandyn was gracious enough to give a full-size, banner re-print of my Dad's PB 49" to him. We were both floored when we saw it. Picture was as crisp as the day we took it and huge! My Dad is an elementary school principal and he ended up hanging it in the front hallway of his school. The kids LOVED it! Very nice way to remember an awesome catch.

I have been interested in a framed oil painting of a big fish. I think the way artists like Umlauf, Doherty, et al. are able to recreate the day's events in a picture is very cool and quite unique.

The print above that Jamie posted was one of my fish from last year (the guy in the red sweatshirt) and the picture turned out great! Actually measured the fish in the picture when I got it home and it was truely lifesize to the exact demension that we measured on the board that night.. Jamie does great work at a very reasonable price and definatly a good alternative if you do not want to shell out the dollars for a replica.. I would highly recomend Jamie and his work if you are looking for a lifesize photo!!
I am in the process of remodeling the basement and I am making a "musky room" and that pictre will definatly be on the wall next to many other great memories..

Josh,
Thanks for the kind words. That was a hell of a fish you got!
Regarding the life-size aspect of it...we even got the bump board on Paul's fish to be exact 1 inch to 1 inch.

I'm very happy with all the alternatives that are out there. We've had a couple jobs now where we have done the same fish for clients multiple times ( example: Chad Cain's 55" that he caught twice). We proudly work with all of our brothers and sisters in the industry. I would put Rick and Shannon Lax as one of our best customers, and we hold Frittante and Douglas in very high regard as well. They all do great work.
Merry Christmas everyone! Peace to all!

(p.s. I just wish Lax, Frittante, Douglas, ourselves, etc could openly talk about some of the fish we have all done that are strictly hush-hush. But when customers tell us to keep it quiet...we keep it quiet. All I'll say is this; I see alot of argument on the boards about this fish or that fish being 55 or 56......um, you aint seen nothing yet. Keep casting. because there's a couple of us who have seen some that are a couple inches north of those numbers Silent giants, we call them. )
