| Does Okuma's throw and work walk the dog baits. I am going to get this reel and throw a lot walk the dog baits. Will this work good for baits like the weagle? |

From one of your previous posts/questions on here, I'm guessing that you are worried you may not be able to pick up the slack line quick enough with the retrieve speed of the reel (or maybe I'm just assuming too much). You won't have a problem with this. You will get a cadence going and it will be second nature after a while. Basically every time you snap/twitch the bait, you'll take a half turn with the reel handle. It will feel very natural after a while.
I personally feel like the 5.1:1 gear ratio reels are about right for WTD baits. Where I would sometimes want a faster retreive speed is working something like Suicks, where you are sometimes taking long pulls or jerks. That's when it would be nice to pick the slack up in a hurry...but even then the middle ground gear ratio reels work fine.

Location: Twin Cities | I use 6.2:1 gear ratio reels for WTD baits since they don't have a ton of drag usually. Something with that gear ratio and 28+ inches of line pickup per crank because you can always slow down, but sometimes you can't go fast enough.
Curado 300 DSV gets my vote, I have 3 of them and they are great for all my wtd baits and a lot of other stuff too. |
