I switched to 80lbs Tuf line this year and have had nothing but problems. I bet I lost 5 baits (and leaders) this year alone. The line keeps fraying right by the leader and anytime I get a backlash.

My question is, What's your favorite line for casting? (normal summer conditions)?

I've been using Tuf line for the last 2 years without ever having a problem, I fish 3-4 days per week on average for most of the season.

I've been really happy with Cortland Masterbraid too, can't go wrong either way, IMO.

I have used Cortland Spectron from the beginning without any issues.

The only negative negative issue with the line is that it holds more water then mosts and can be an issue fishing in the cold.

Check your tip ring. It may well have a crack in it that's causing the line to fray. If you see the line is damaged you should re-tie it, not keep casting until it snaps!

I agree with Tim, check your tip top guide and the rest of them while your at it Sounds like you have a cracked guide somewhere more than line issues.

it could be from the leader. If you tie your own like most of us the steel end of the leader could be nicking the line. I have had this happen to me so now i pay more attention after i wrap the steel 5 of 6 times i make sure the end cut to the correct length and make sure i can get the end to laydown so it cant nick the line.

If you make your own single strand leader, you should never cut the tag end of the wire. You should break it and done properly it will break clean and right next to the shaft. No burr to cut your line or hands.
