Weekend Destinations?

depending on where you live and fish, the spectre of closed seasons or ice on the lakes is drawing closer and closer.

i'm heading north on Friday to float around on Pelican for "Sucker Weekend"...one of these years we might even catch a fish. but if we don't, it's fun, and i can always just blame the guide.

the weather's supposed to take a rough and cold turn, where are you going to get out this weekend to try and stretch the season?

47 degree water in minocqua ... agrimm is coming to fish area lakes. another indian summer will come to an end and numbers will dip again ... supposed to be pretty nasty out.

EDIT: ... check the weather going on in montana and the dakotas right now and then be prepared, looks like it's gonna be a doozy!

Heading up to the Minocqua area tonight. Never been in that neck of the woods before... so to speak. Will be grouse hunting most of the weekend, but hope to find some time to soak a sucker or two as well! Bring on the snow!

Uhmmm, didn't the one from last year count? I think I remember you netting one for me on video. As a guide, I can lead you to fish, I just can't catch them for you.

Looking forward to a non-guiding fun filled weekend on Pelican. I need a sucker fish!

I'll be breaking out the trolling equipment and the heater and plowing around metro lakes. Keep thinking about Mille Lacs, but i think it would be a futile effort.

I will be headed to Webster with Husky Jerk from Saturday thru Tuesday. Hopefully the colder weather will turn the fish on.

Best wishes to all!

I'll be trying to convince myself it's a good idea to fish when it's howling windy and freezing, adding in a little snow, and some rain. Probably will revert to gathering wood for the boiler and stopping in to see everyone on Pelican.

I'll be in SE Minnesota, in the woods, with a 12 gauge in hand. Waiting for my first buck to stroll on by, then BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. Meat in the freezer!

Lambeau,

It helps if you hit the water before noon or so, you shouldn't hit the water the next day at what time you left the bar the nite before, there will be more wiskey the next day, trust me. Make sure Saint has his floats, temps are dropping fast.

Off for the weekend to chase some big girls, watching the weather some strong wind gust possibly into 40 mph, with snow. What happened to nice transition

Fishing somewhere, the wife is off to Green bay. I probably should be joining her, but more than likely i'll be staying local for a repeat of the matchfishing semi's.

Most likely Pineview again. Gotta get some fishing in while we still have muskies - it's not looking good for the future in the way of stocking anymore. Too many people w/ personal agendas running our outfit.

Alta ski resort got 42" of snow yesterday, but it looks like the weather will be nice for the first half of this weekend anyway...

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west northwest.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. West northwest wind at 6 mph becoming south southeast.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 54. South wind around 6 mph.

Fishing with Jason Smith Friday and Saturday on Green Bay. Groony is joining us on Friday. Last weekend for the year. Then next week, clean up the boat, and put the add in the classifieds.

Our Muskies Inc chapter is sponsoring a veterans outing this saturday. I will be making up a batch of my famous chili and enlisting a small group of helpers to feed the anglers once they get off the lake. We hope to put some of our finest citizens on a fish or two.

Hoping to get out this weekend, but my dad has our boat up in Ontario (deer hunting). Possibly getting up to Oneida/Vilas with a buddy's boat, but maybe just staying around Medford. Next weekend, we will be up towards Minocqua though, looking for some big fatties. Good luck to everyone!

Oh boy, I still have my pier in up in Land O Lakes. No plans to rip it out until next weekend. Sled, post some water temps next week please??

--St. Germain area--Drivin' up to see the Pauling lights with the kids Friday night after supper at Bent's Camp...then back to the cabin to grab some ZZZZZ until I get up bright-n-early to freeze my cajones off in the blowing and howling white stuff...not smart.

I'll have 3 of my kids fishing a lake in Northern Mn. this weekend , This should be a real good bite as the water temps has risen over the last few days and are expected to really fall with this cold front coming in.

I see an increase in poncho sales this weekend in northern Minnesota. All the blaze orange ones are gone, I picked up the last two clear ones...so don't shoot me. I'm not going to be greedy, I just want one really big one ............each...........per day

Sorno, they do not like the muskies out west...I have however found a pretty good lake here in CO. I have not made it to Utah yet...but if things get tough you are always welcome to come to CO for a few days of muskie fishing. This lake they are just starting to get to larger sizes.....This weekend I might just snowboard for exercise..not great snow conditions yet....

I will be in the woods near Cook, MN trying to take down mr big. Lots of my time in the woods will be spent thinking about my boat sitting in the garage all set for muskie fishing and 10 minuets away from getting wet. If things pan out and we get some nice deer down and I fill my tage with a mature buck I may get a day or two on the water.
I left the boat in the water durring the first week of deer season last year and did not get out in it. When I finnally pulled it I had a hard time drying everything out.
I don't get all worked up over trying to fit too much into my weekends/weeks up there anymore. I try to go with the flow and I am having more fun than if I try to split the time up between bowhunting, muskie fishing, family time, and rifle hunting.

Good Luck to all you diehards on the water. It is much warmer in the woods

Lets see some pics of the muskies I will be missing out on. Be Safe out on the water and in the woods.

Depression, my sister and brother in law are coming to visit. They have some Bass Pro gift certificates. So we are heading south into the Evil Empire of Illinois. I guess it could be worse, it could have ment a trip to Spegiel's instead!
No boat time this weekend.......
