| Anyone own this boat? What's your thoughts? I'm thinking of buying a used one but not sure if it's what i want. i live in indiana and fish some local bass tournaments as well as Muskie in northern indiana. but I also take 1-2 trips per year up to Lake of the Woods. I guess I'm kinda worried that it's not big enough. There would be atleast 2 people casting, occasionally 3, is this boat big enough to be comfortable?
Any other recommendations? |

I don't have that boat but I have an '05 Lund Angler 1700 which is similar in dimensions. I've used my boat on LOTW and the Mr. Pike is plenty big enough.

Location: Duluth, MN | I have a 2003 Mr. Pike 17. Same boat. I love it. And absolutely love the layout. Because there is no port console you have plenty of room to move around...more than enough room for 3 to fish. It's big enough to handle "big" water....i fish Mille Lacs a few times a year and have been out in some pretty big rollers with it and have never felt unsafe. I know alot of people like the windshield if you upgrade to a Pro V but the few times a year you really NEED a windshield just isn't enough for me to give up the openness of the Mr. Pike. Theres plenty of storage. Easy to trailer around. I pull mine with a Toyota Sienna van. And it scoots along pretty good with a 115. If you move up to a Pro V you probably need to get a 150 to be happy. I just couldn't afford the step up to a Pro-V and i actually like the Mr. Pike design better.
Anymore questions just ask. |

| I am looking at a 2003 17 ft mr pike with a 115 yamaha for $15000.Is that a reasonable price? How slow will it troll? Will I need a kicker? |

Location: Duluth, MN | That price seems a high to me. Brand new in 2003 mine was $20,000 with trolling motor, depth finder, batteries, anchors, ropes and what not. I haven't looked at current prices but i think you can go to nada.com to get an idea. It does troll fairly slow but not if your trying to finesse walleyes in the spring with a spinner rig. But you would probably be using an electric for that. If your just trolling muskies you don't need a kicker. |

| I have the same boat with a 115 Merc 4 stroke. I think that is a reasonable price and for the fishing you are doing that boat should give you exceptional life. I have never felt unsafe though at times I have been out in water rough enough to make me a little sick. You will troll well for musky with the 4 stroke, but you may want a kicker for slow speeds but you can easily hang a bucket or mount a plate to slow the boat down. I am assuming you are looking at a boat with a 4 stroke and the motor should give long life also. I pulled mine with a v6 pickup in SE KY and never felt underpowered. I now pull with a 5.3 V8 and really am a little overpowered in terms of what I need, but it's nice for passing. This boat is also capable of pulling knee boards or tubers without difficulty. |
