What is the difference between these two plugs? They look the same; do they have the same action? Appeares to me you only need one or the other.

Grandmas are thinner and less buoyant there fore run deeper, trolled or jerked. They also have a tighter wiggle. The jakes will run shallower and their rocking wobble is greater. Not by much but it is noticeable.

If I were to throw a 9" Grandma out and retrieve it jerking it in it would run just around 10 ft deep. A 9" Jake on the other hand would run 5 or just a little more.

A Jake has rattles in it, a Grandma does not. They are similar, but far from the same.

I found out last week that if I had to pick one, I would take a Grandma. I like the wiggle over the wobble, and if I want to, I can make a Grandma run shallow, but I can't make a Jake run deep.

I am a lover of the old M-9's. Old grandma's have the great roll to them compare to the new grandma's. The new lip on Grandma's today run deeper BUT less rolling action. The Jake, compared to the old M-9, runs about 1 foot deeper trolled. Do not own a newer style Grandma. Do not like the action compared to the old M-9. Why they changed the lip is puzzzling???

I used both Grandma and Jake. I like Grandma better! Good twitches and wiggler. Size 7.5" is just right size that I use most often! Many nice bass up to 5 lbs on 6" Grandma.
