i do not have that model but i do have a 99 smokercraft that i have owned since it was new. as far as brand goes, i would not have any problems buying another smokercraft or sylvan.

I own a 1999 sylvan 1600, bought it used (very light use) it has been a great boat! No leaks, handles the water similar to a 1750 tyee. I wouldnt hesitate on buying another one, plus save some money from the big name boats. I run mine on LOTW out of the Angle and have had it out in 40 + winds and didnt worry at all, handled it fine. Quality is pretty good also, nothing wrong with it and I have owned it for 2 years.

Smokercraft and Sylvan are the same family, technically. My first boat was a Smokercraft and I loved it. Never had a problem with it and it served me very well (until the family grew and we need something bigger). I would not hesitate at looking at Smokercrafts when I'm in the market again. To that end, I have a Crestliner now and I'm very happy with it. The key is to find something that fits both your needs and budget. Lightly used boats, almost fully rigged (you'll have to touch up to meet your specs) are a far better bargin simply because you've let the original owner take the depreciation hit.
One other thing; I ran my Smokercraft for two years and sold it myself for $400 more than I paid for it. Lots of care and cleaning to keep it looking great certainly paid off at sale time. Good luck and enjoy your shopping...
