my daughter got her first "by herself fish" today

It hit on about the 8-10th turn on the figure 8 and she buried the hooks home.
50" right on the nose....way cool for both of us.

Congrats. Daughter's are cool. This summer my eleven year old has made a bunch of pars, broke 120 four times for eighteen holes, and hit a 105 yard bunker shot to three inches for a tap in par.

She needs an eagle, though, to match that 50 incher. As Sled says, "The Eagle-Golf's 50 Incher".

Does she realize what she caught??? Didn't your daughter just get her first (46"++) a few weeks ago?? Mr. Turgeon you are more dialed in to what the Minnesota Muskies are doing than they are!! Congratulation to your daughter, and I have enjoyed your Thorne Bros. blog this year. I hit the garage floor three times tonight after seeing this post. Does anyone know how to tie a good knot in a garden hose that won't slip?

Congrats Bob.

There is nothing more enjoyable then spending time in the boat with your child. I had my 3 year old on the river this week fishing smallmouth. He hooked up with one that was just under 20 inches. I had to hold the rod while he turned the handle with both hands.

Nicely done, Bob. Congratulations, and nice job on the pictures also.
Looks like the fall bite has been good to you, so far.

Congrats. I just took my two year old daughter out for a two hour outing last week when it was still warm, and ended up catching a 42 and a 45.5". Her reaction to those fish was priceless. Easily one of my most enjoyable days on the water yet. I hope to share many more days like that one with her as she gets older.

super fish! i had my two daughters out a couple weeks ago (7 and 10) and my ten year old netted a 37.5 for me. she thought that was pretty cool. it was fun to see their excitement rise after boating one, hoping to catch one themselves. it is great to see all these kids get exposed to the outdoors.

Bob - congrats to you and your daughter. Great catch!

Just wanted to say you've been a big help. I attended your seminar this past spring and recently found your blog.

I now feel like I have a real chance of catching one every time out and it's been a thrill to see some of those tankers swimming around.

PS - were you trolling lower lake late Saturday afternoon? We may have talked. We were in a red Crestliner casting. I mentioned it had been pretty slow with the exception of a 36" caught that morning.

Keep those pics coming!

Thanks for the comments guys (and gal) it was a special day that we won't forget. It is really rewarding when one of your own enjoys fishing with you and I am lucky in that reguard. And nope Jordan is not spoiled catching a piggie like that after only three muskie outings, she is still happy just to get a pull on the line whether it's a 1/2lb bass or a monster muskie.......although now she has a VERY clear understanding of the difference in excitement and she does understand just how special a fish that was.

And yep that was me near Brackets Saturday mid afternoon.

Nice work. It amazes me to see such a huge fish as your first fish. It sure would be nice to be spoiled like that having break the 50" barrier and catching your first musky ever at the same time. Makes the next goal, what ever it should be even harder - or easier. Congrats!!!
