Interesting. Was talking to the local BPS Tracker guy a few weeks ago. His sales have actually gone UP this year. says its due to the preponderance of local lakes here in upstate NY and people deciding to stay 'home' for leisure time vs taking vacations, due to the gas prices. I'm sure the more recent broader economic situation and consumer confidence (or lack thereof) will pare that back some next year though...

Last year was the worst marine sales year volume wise since 1967. What makes it even worse is the fact that there are about an additional 100 million folks in the US now compared to 1967.

We had Thom Dammrich, the President of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) on our radio show and he said projections for 2008 are even worse than 2007.

Break out the kayak.
