| Here is the little story. Every year I have been going to LOTW a gentlemen by the name of Jerry Lewis was there. We started a tradition of taking turns bringing a bottle of Lord Calvert that we would drink while we were up there. This started the first year when I caught my personal best at the time of 47 inches. Jerry was a great guy and loved the outdoors whether it was fishing or hunting. Every evening he would come over to my cabin, bottle, glass, and can of Pepsi with him. Every night he would ask, " Do you have any ice guy?", he would ask it like it was the first time for such occasions. We would then have a drink or two together and then repeat the process until the bottle was gone. I truly enjoyed our friendship and the memories of sharing together on LOTW. Well, last fall while hunting, Jerry had a heart attack and passed away. He was cremated and his wife gave us some of the ashes to spread on LOTW along with a custom rod he won for selling tickets for our fundraiser. So we took "Lew" with us and released next to where he caught his biggest fish of 53 inches. We also took turns using his rod. He loved topwater so I put on a Pacemaker. Well, it turns out, I was able to catch a fish on his rod, and I was the only one to do so. The fish hit 10 feet from the boat and jumped, front hook firmly stuck in his mouth. When the fish jumped it was doing so much body torquing, that it buried the back hook right into the meat by the tail. The fish landed in the water and just laid there like a donut on the water. My partner ( Mike Sullivan) looked at it, laughed, then proceeded to net the donut. Lew was looking out for us and gave us a great story to go along with it. So, we took the picture, with his rod leaning against me. The picture is of me with the fish I caught on his rod. Nice healthy 42 incher. We named the spot "Musky Lew Bay" after that. So that is my little story. I have a picture of me and the rod on display at home, can not forget the man or the memories.

| Thanks for all the kind words. Lew was a gem, that is for sure. Every year we would alternate who was brining the bottle of the Lord, throuhout the year when it was my turn to bring it, Lew would ask if that bottle was aging properly, and of course the answer was "Yes it is". Tim, Lew is the smaller guy with the hat on in the attached picture. I believe you are thinking of Derek, who is 80+ years old who still is venturing to LOTW at Baystore Camp with us. Attached are pictures of Lew and Derek as well as the picuture of all the boats at the Muskie Release. THanks Brad for downsizing all of these pictures so I could share them with the group.

| Wow! I also had a fish once make itself into a donut in exactly the way you describe. Easiest musky I ever netted! : ) I have wondered if that has ever happened to anyone else. I guess it has. Great story about what sounds like a great man. |
