| Can anyone help with the proper quick strike rig. that is legal for Minn. I see alot of fish through the Muskie Inc. site that where caught on live bait mostly on the west side of the state. It is a little confusing the way they say it in the reg. book

hook. A treble hook, when not part of an artificial lure, is considered
three hooks and is not legal.
How can you use a quick strike rig. if you can not use treble hooks?

| I don't sucker fish, but i think it has something to with adding a small spinner blade somewhere on the rig so then it could be considered "artificial." I think it's kind've a stupid rule, but it is what it is. |

Location: Minnesota | just get a hulcano harness, it is a single treble. I personally really like this rig and has a really high hooking percentage.

Location: Grand Rapids MN | I know the rigs I use on my tip-ups all have a small spinner blade to make them a 'lure' and it's something they enforce in the winter months. Never sucker fished during open water for musky. I've thought the same thing with some of these lift off rigs that they are just leaders with treble hooks and don't fit the description as a 'lure'. I personally would just add a spinner blade. Adds attraction and could save you an argument and fine. |

Location: Mendota Heights, MN | I put a large spinner blade on a split ring and then I put the split ring on the wire leader portion of the quick strike rig in such a way that it just "pinches" the leader between the rings splits. This way i can slide it up and down on the rig and also take it off very easily.
I like the spinner blade, act like an attractant. (I think anyway) who knows!
