Location: SE Wisconsin | Was looking back at retired threads and thought I'd bring this one back to life. . . Maybe someone has something to add, but mainly, if you haven't see these pics, I'm glad you are now. I can smell the distant burning leaves and feel the cool crisp air. . . That said, I'm not in a hurry to get there - Need to make that clear
Here's a Nov. 44" good friend, Ryan Buth, caught on Pewaukee this past fall. I was in a tree stand a mile away when he texted me the pic.

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | Fall fishing is a blast, but it I think the lore and idea of that fall bruiser makes we as fisherman a bit careless. Last year, I was out on one of the last and most miserable days of the season - 40 mph wind chill temps were at almost 0. The waves were coming at me from every which way my 620 had 4 inches of ice on the floor, the entire boat was a Rangersicle. I was the only soul dumb enough to go out that day... By myself. I almost went overboard - so for the first time I donned a PFD. Needless to say I caught nothing and made it home even though my boat weighed around 6000 lbs with it's icy shell.
Obviously, personal safety is first and foremost, but we need to consider the fish as well - The spray of the waves was freezing instantly - Imagine the havoc single digit temps would have on a muskies eye's or gills. It would be detrimental. I have caught fish in temps around 20. Pulled them out for a quick pic and then back in the drink to swim off seemingly healthy. But even 10 seconds out of the water in an extreme cold, I can't help but feel it would be deadly.
Something to consider.

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | It was insane for sure! My Ice Armor suit was just that - I had a half inch shell (and building) of ice all over me. Every time I moved cracking noises went off. It was nuts. When I pulled my boat off the ice was so slippery, I was going from the bow to my truck bed, when I slipped off and ended up going through an inch of ice into a foot of water. I was soaked and I thought I broke my arm, but I just tore my forearm muscle. At least it happened at the end of the season.

| Jerr, that would be awesome if you incorparated some fall fishing into your next "Go Fish II" video! Nothing better then big pigs in the net with the fall colors and snow!
One other thing to add "OUCH" on the fall. That had to be painful! Bet you couldn't wait to get home!

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | It sucked! I couldn't open my hand or straighten my arm for like 2 hours.
As for filming, I'd have to convince my cameraman / buddy to come out and film in that crap - We are toying with a Deadliest Catch type segment.

Thankyou, it is about as good as color gets on the lakes down here. It wasn't exactly muskie weather, and when the sunshine got a little more oblique, I started running from cove to cove looking for photo opportunities. The reds are what maples exist. Later in the season you get lots of red from the red oaks, but most other colors are gone. No wind, lots of sun, no muskies, lots of color. Gotta take whatcha get.
BTW, most serious Green River fisherman will instantly recognize both these areas, though one is just a place you pass by.
