| My daughter asked me if fish sleep. I replied, "Beats the republican out of me." So, do fish sleep? |
| Yes, especially when you have a boarding "school" of fish!
Fish in my aquarium seemed to have dormant times at night,
I would expect that would be the case in the wild. I don't know what the duration would be. |

| Yes!- Definitely! I have seen them and touched them while scuba diving at night in Okinawa. I posed the query "do Muskie's sleep" on the reasearch board- no one responded. Guess they couldn't think that deep- Some fish especially top tier predetors in salt water and others with special protective measures do sleep!
But like all things "sleep is a relative term". Do they sleep like humans or mammal's????? Not likely, no pillows & soft mattress's. But do they achieve a similar state? Yes! some of them do->Muskies?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

| I have observed in aquariums that the smallest species of fish pretty much shut down at night..the bigger predators are usually less active but still move around some. Some fish do all their feeding at night. I think some research on gamefish should be done..most fish can be caught at night, so I figure they're pretty much awake. |
