Those pike are unreal. I caught a 46" pike this year out of Mille Lacs, but the girth doesn't even compare. The muskies that I catch don't even compare for that matter, LOL. I would love to tie into pike like that!

Wow, those are big pike. I always heard pike will grow large in Europe, but never did here why. Are the pike here, North America, capable of growing this large?
Is it the pike fishery is hit to hard here in the states? Have big fish like this ever been caught in Canadian waters?

I don't want to spoil on anybodies parade, but there is no way that fish if 53" and 43 lbs. Me and Rock Strongo have caught lots of big fish during the years, and that fish is bigger than stated. Trust me on that one. Wouldn't surpirse me if those Europeans report there picture fish smaller so others don't come on to fish there spots. There more suspicious than us Americans.
Great fish, can't say Rock or me ever landed a red, white and blue northern anywhere close to that old country monster. They do grow 'em big across the pond.

From the looks of that guy in the picture, either Jeremy of Team RumbleKnott went on a European Monster Pike fishing vacation, or he has a European doppelganger. I'd like to see if the guy wielding the camera looks like MuskieMike.
That's a real squishy looking huge fish. I dated a girl in the mid 80's with a body like that, but I couldn't lift her in my arms for photos.

I have a few guys from Europe on my picture page with some nice pike. They have sent me about 20 pictures so far. I just can't keep up with them. Need to make it over there to go fising! Looks like a blast! http://www.gruntmuskielures.com/muskiepictures.html

Wrong, it is brackish. When my wife went to school there (@ Rostock) I fished out of Warnemunde and Rugen. The salt layers settle lower in the water column, and the upper layers are what you might thing of as fresh, albeit it has more saline content than our fresh water.
Also, the Baltic ranges somewhere around 5to15 ppm salinity, opposed the average of the worlds oceans at 35. The Baltic can, and has frozen completely in the past.

Hi Guys
Just wanted to let you know that this pike wasn't caught in the baltic sea (although this first idea seems to be considerable). It was caught in germany... right... but the water is the "Starnberger See" a s see in the south of Germany (Bavaria).... freshwater... location near the Oktoberfest in Munich...
Length and weight is correct. Method: Trolling

There are hecht, however, in the Baltic. I know several people that fish Rugen with regularity. I also seem to remember something about Saaler Bodden producing giats.

The original fish on this thread was said to weigh 43 "pounds". However, its real weight was 43 "Pfunds" which is equivalent to 47.399373 pounds US weight. A magnificent specimen!

Agreed. You want to see 50's??? Here's some of ours. You'll see a couple 50's in our photo album. http://trophypikepix.blogspot.com/ The ones that live where we go are the largest in N.America...but nothing comes close to some of the ones in the Baltic or in N.Italy.
The Euro pike that are pictured are well over 50.
