I caught this 49 inch musky on a northern Illinois lake Saturday on a spinner. My previous best was a 46 inch out of Vermilion. I caught a 32 inch fish 3 hours earlier. Needless to say, I was pretty excited. Heck, I still am excited!

That's a bonafide GIANT, and from IL to boot. Congrats! Nice to see IL kicking out some nice fish this year.

now thats what a crappie fisherman would call a SLOB! looks like a fish from either crystal lake or another oen of those private illinois lakes. unless you caught her from the fox chain? what did you catch that beauty on? i went fishing this weekend and caught two on some of them ss booty baits. it was a tough weekend but me and pa caught something but no where near the size of that baby. thank you for sharing your results from your recent adventure.

Thanks for the replies. I don't post a whole lot on here because I am not one to toot my own horn (that and I rarely catch anything that makes me proud enough to show off), but I know how much I love looking at fish pictures that everyone else posts on this site and felt I should share. She hit an orange bladed black bucktail spinner. The only thing upsetting about the whole experience is that after we netted her we gave a couple high fives only to look back down and see her half way out of the side of the net (she had to have cut it with her teeth). My old man tried to grab her by the tail and she exploded out of the net nicking the bottom of her back fin and tail fin which made me angry. I have never had a net tear yet even though I have heard of it happening. I was also upset to see a couple split fins. I have loved the Frabill up to this point. Maybe I should try a finsaver. After we got her in the net the second time I removed the lure hoisted her up for the photo, got a quick measurement and put her back in the water where she quickly swam away strongly back down to haunt the weeds!!!

I agree, get the FIN SAVER Frabill net.

I suggest the Big Kahuna.

Those rubber dipped nets help prevent split fins, cutting, etc...

Nice work!
