I have a biology project due on Friday. I decided to choose to reseach muskie. I need to find out a lot of info about muskies.

Some things I need to find out are...

Feeding Habits/ Seasonal Feeding Habits
Seasonal behavior
Depths they like
preferred food
preferred habitat

Are there any good websites that you could fill me in on?

I dont really want to go buy any books I am hoping to find all the info on the internet. I have done some search's on Muskie on google but havent found what I am looking for. I have found a few thing about them but still need a lot more info.

Kyle

Kyle,

Do a Google Scholar search: www.scholar.google.com. You may only get a bunch of abstracts, but those are the highlights of the study. You may also get some that are .pdf's. Just a general Google search usually doesn't yield much.

NebraskaMuskie,

When (if) you do that Google Scholar search, write down the studies you would like to read, send the list to me at [email protected] and I will try to get you the papers. I'd check with your teacher/professor and see what kind of sources he/she deems acceptable. Some people only accept information from primary literature (i.e. scientific studies in peer-reviewed journals) and others accept info from just about anywhere. The Muskies Inc. website has some great, very concise info on many of the topics you need info on. You might also use the SEARCH function on this site and look under "Muskie Research."

....and when you complete your paper, would you mind sharing it with us? We've spent lifetimes trying to figure out just THAT!
Best of luck!

NebraskaMuskieHunter,
I would recommend using databases, if you have access some. Databases are usually more credible and scholarly than websites found using a search engine such as google.

He would need to be a University student or affiliate or a member/subscription holder to a database to have access to those types of sources. Google Scholar is a very credible search tool as it only gives you primary literature sources and no websites. Good luck in your search NMH.

A lot of schools these days have at least a few databases. However, University usually have a greater number of databases. I was giving another idea of where to find information. Google Scholar is a good website to use.

Schools as in high schools? That's great!!! I wish my HS had a nice article database. It had a good library, but no access to scientific papers. Gotta love how technology is advancing things. Used in the right ways in the school systems it can, IMO, do wonders!
