Look at the map, find likely spots to hold fish. Throw medium sized lures (7-8" at most) in gold, orange, and perch. Use hot colors if those don't get them going. If you have experience running suckers (again staying in the 9-12" range, no need for mongos on the chain) run'em. If casting doesn't work, try trolling. The lake isn't that big, if you spend all day on it doing the above, you should be able to pretty much cover all possible depths/speed combinations. If you don't get any action it's either a bad day for it, or you need to hire a guide.

MY best friends dad Is going to roll with us, He grew up fishing the chain and also use to be friends with the great len hartmann, I was just asking to see If anyone on here had something different to say. Your advice is almost the same as his, but he made a big push on orange.

I don't fish Fox Chain much but I keep eye on it all the time! I believe that more muskies in upper 3 lakes like Channel, Cathrine and Marie but get heavy musky fishing pressure. Few but good chance for bigger fish at lower lakes. If you have time and try Petite and Bluff and never know that you might catch musky there. Maybe mouth of the Fox River and go little down on the Fox River...before McHenry Dam! Some muskies in the Fox River all the way down to Yorkville! They go down but can't go up because of dam! Some muskies in the Fox River from Elgin down to Batvia would come from Chian Lakes while few in way down could be from Shabbona Lake!
I would casting bucktail, jerkbait and grandma on electric motor in upper 3 lakes and if I want big fish then trolling at Lake Marie and lower lakes!
