| Caught a 32 1/2" and a 45" on lake X Friday, saw multiple fish and lost a couple on a jackpot. "gotta love that jackpot"[:p]
Got rained out for the Waukegan trip this morning, captain said there were 5 footers out there [:blackeye:] |

| Fished 3 hours Saturday morning, caught one short one, missed one, had one miss at the boat and saw three. Boy was it cold. Water temps are sub 50 on most lakes. Small 5" slammers, 6" suicks seemed to work best. Plan on heading out tonight, tomorrow and Monday. The weather is going to be nicer tmorrow???? |
| |
| No skis BUT...did hang an 18lb anchor w/ a Terminator in about 4-5' of water...4 hybrid rockfish, 1 smallmouth + 1 largemouth w/ a few larger rockfish lost on Traps[:blackeye:] |

| Lousy this evening, one stinkin follow on a small bucktail, water temps on the little lake were in the mid 50's. |

| |
| NOTHING! THe muskie fishing at my lake gets pounded to much and been hearing tradegy stories of people pulling 47" out of the lake when its 77 acre lake to start out with [:((] Maybe better luck tomorrow or monday. |

| Caught a shortie on a Baby Shallow Raider over timber, burned another one in the upper thirties (unfortunately that's inches) also in timber. Where did all the green weeds go? Hopefully there will be more action to come today. |
| |
| Got a couple yesterday and the day before. One mid forties and one high thirties fish. Thank goodness for the northern opener(thought it would never come). |
| |
| Got a little 31" on Silver this morning, and just wacked the heck out of my finger fixing the electronics!!!!!!!!! Hammer meet finger, hammer smash finger...finger bleed all over, finger turn purple....Slamr jump up and down and curse and smoke one after another after another....Slamr think Slamr should be smoking less Marlboro's and more Hulbert Hand Rolls to relieve this pain.

| Just returned from Vilas county. Fished 4 lakes on Sat. No fish, no follows, no nada...severe bruised ego and frozen hands for most of the day. Sunday was a little better- warmer but wet and windy. Managed one nice 41" in 4' of water with scattered coontail. I think it was a sympathy stike, because the rest of the day saw nothing. Water temps. were in the low to mid 50's and weeds were scarce to non existant. |

| Having a good opening weekend with JoMusky. Jo "horseshoe" Musky has managed a 38 and a 35.5 in the boat with some nice high 20" pike and a huge bucket mouth (19" with a big ol'belly). I have a few nice pike in the boat, dandy smallmouth, and my chance at opening weekend glory was shot today with a 34"ish lost at boatside. Have been hearing of some very nice fish being caught by others. The fish want big baits. 9" suicks and 7" TR Twithers are getting the action. We will be hitting it again hard tomorrow, saw a PIG today, maybe she will eat then. Water temps 57-61, tons of milfoil growing.
The opener ain't over yet, one more day to redeem myself. Happy hunting!![] |
| |
| Yikes, did a 14 hour marathon today. Two small ones in the boat (mid 30's and upper 20's), lost a hefty boat side 40+, and had about 6 follows. All kinds of baits getting action - mepps bucktail, suick, small jake and husky jerk. Great to be out![] |
| |
Friday 25 inch eye plus a few others
Sat 31 inch sub legal ski plus seen about 8 others
Sun 34 incher and 40 inchers all skies caught on bucktail type baits

Was out on Pewaukee this morning for a few hours with Steve "bad luck" Van LieShouts and only seen one follow. |

| 14 Salmon in my boat total.
Now that I got some table fair...I ready to fish for muskie again. |
| |
| Bill, Everyone knows that the host is supposed to catch the first muskie and you were the host! I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about all the fish that I shook off at the boat on the RED DRAGON
just so I wouldn't break tradition! LOL![]
Great picture of you and Cody on Lake Michigan. |

| Well I caved in to the wife and drove all the way to the Chip again. My back is in such bad shape it was all I could do to twitch a 6" bait for a total of about 3 hours across the entire weekend. I guess I may have to cave in to the surgery which will take me out of muskie fishing for a couple months [:knockout:]
Water temps varied from 54-58 East to West side. Weeds were non-existent. Wally bite was good on minnows in about 20ft of water near current breaks. Pike were EVERYWHERE!!! I cut a few up and ate the slimy little pains in my butt. |
| |
| The openner on the Three Lakes Chain was about 40 degrees and raining; and the rest of the weekend wasn't much better. The weed beds on all of the lakes that I hit showed no sign of growth. The only good news I have is that the muskies were spawning on our shoreline on Thursday and Friday (5/23 and 5/24), so I got to see some muskies this weekend!
I did get a follow from one of the spawning 'skis (34-36 incher) on Thursday before the openner on a beetle spin. I would say that we are about two to three weeks behind. Look for good fishing in July! :) |
| |
| Got out before the rush we caught a 39.5 and a 34 saw 4 fish and had a 34"er hit the mister twister tail on a bucktail 3 times and missed the hooks!Cant wait for sat!! |

| Greg found redemption!
A 45" fatty and had one on at boat side not long after which was even bigger! I certainly didn't want to leave at noon today, and would have dialed a day tomorrow if my wife wasn't along.
What an opener! I can't wait to get my pictures developed.
I'm sure he will post them, he is justly proud. I will also have them on my site soon.
Now who has horseshoe sphincteritus? |

| 2 days on Pelican, today I fished close to home and nothing but a copy of lazy followers the whole weekend. The warm day today had water temps on the rise. The fishing can only get better over the next few weeks.
There were two 50's caught and released in my area ...

| I got two more on Monday, a 34 and a 36 both caught on Blake Lake. One came on a Tandem Spinnerbait the other on a Jig. So that means we boated 4 over the weekend. 2 on Deer two on Blake. We lost two on Deer as well. 3 of these fish came on jigs.[:sun:] |

| Fished all weekend up in vilas and no musky. The ones I saw were pretty beat up and they looked like they were still recovering. Had one look at a sucker untill my dad casted at it, still not sure what he was thinking.[:(]
Caught one pike and one smallmouth, temps were 50-53 and did not see much fish activity or movement or much of any weeds. |
| |
| My Dad got a 33" on a Crane and my Uncle a 31" on a Shallow Raider. Like ToddM, the water temps were 50-53, and the fish seemed real skittish. All the fish we moved for the most part were on Crankbaits. |
| |
| Only chance I had to fish was on Sat. afternoon for about 5 hours. Was helping a friend who is building a new house the rest of the weekend.
Caught one one pike and saw three Muskie. One upper 30's slowly followed undertaker to boat. One fish clean "whiffed" a slammer twitch bait and I screwed up with very slow reflexes on one that hit a Undertaker.
Congratulations Greg....Can't wait to see the pictures. I'm sure it was the lucky phone call I made to you on my way to the lake...[]

| Tuffy boats and Heckel's Marine teamed up to keep my Tuffy for another weekend. The thing has been leaking gas fumes all year. Heckel's had to keep it for another week.
My only advice.....don't buy a Tuffy if you want to go fishing. |

| Well, it was a fun opener, took my 6 year old son out saturday, he raised his first 2 fish, had one right at the boat charging hard and it slammed on the brakes, Zack stopped the bait when he saw the fish. He was truly excited for the next 1/2 hour. Sunday took a group for walleyes and northerns for fish fry. Then came time for serious fishing, to only have my pinpoint go completely dead.

| Got a 38" on my 6" orange tiger glider out of a freshly fallen pine tree on sat. in the cold and rain, and 30" on sun. off of a rock wall. Both were on Caldron Falls, water temps sat. 50 by sun. they were up to 57.

| Fished up in Vilas Sat-Tues AM. Boated 2 short fish...both on Undertakers. Caught numerous small pike, 1 on a Beavertail, 1 on a Slammer, all the rest on Undertakers. Had one real nice fish take a swipe at a TR Twitcher just before sundown yesterday.
Friday the shallows were absolutely loaded with suckers and crappie fishermen were limiting out in 7'-9'. During the sunshine on Mon, all the panfishermen were in 3'-5' and they were still doing very well.

| I went out sunday and saturday. Saturday was a nothing day. Sunday I had one hit a stalker in 1' of water but it missed the lure (I'm starting to think all muskies are blind and have lateral line injuries) I caught a personal (2nd) best bass at 15" as well as a couple smaller ones an a crappie in 1' of water using nightcrawlers. I finally found the muskie fry...getting to about 4" now and still alive...Illinois DOES have natural reproduction[:)] (even though no one believes me with the thousands of fry I've seen and few I've accidently snagged) Oh yeah, I even had a follow on a nightcrawler at 4" (don't know what it would do with a huge worm, but then again...muskies are just plain stupid) |

| Had 10 follows on Sat and one missed strike.
Caught 2, both 35", on Sunday and had the pleasure of watching a Vilas Co. guide bonk a 40"er caught on a swallow rig. Then I watched guide and both clients keep fishing. One boat went over there and let him know his actions were not appreciated. We got the guys boat number and I called 1-800-tip-wdnr. A warden called me back later that afternoon and told me he would look into it, but there wasn't much he could do because they would claim they were fishing for pike. That sucks!!!
I got one more on Monday, but he was only 30".
I also caught a ton of pike all weekend and one decent smallie.
Every fish was caught in 1-4 ft. of water.
