I'm wondering if any of you guys who use this bait add a split ring as it doesn't come with one. Rapala told me it was designed to be fished without one but I could add one if I wanted to try it. They also warned that adding one might upset the action. All my other crankbaits, jerkbaits, etc. have a ring so what gives? Thoughts?

i use them without a split ring ...i also use them as a jerkbait......hard pulls with a slight pause....they sure do catch more fish that way...i have never used a split ring on one so your guess is as good as mine give it a try ....

I emailed Rapala customer service about it. I'll rig one w/ and one w/o and try side by side in my pool.

One of my favorite baits to use. I always add a split ring to the bait. I also on occassion, change the hooks to larger ones. An extremely versatile bait that I use all season long. Kdawg

this is good info. Is a faster erratic action in the fall common for this lure?

is there any modifications you can make .... like plastic trailer...bucktail hair on the end...etc.
Seems to small when I throw it.

I use it with a split ring. If it decreases the action, I sure can't tell!!

This bait catches fish! I've had very good luck with it for both muskie and pike. I wish I could find one that wouldn't have the foil finish peel off. I've had this happen to two of the Shiner pattern ones. Dang!!! It's a bitchin' bait, tho. I love it! Fish it with or w/o a split ring. It'll catch fish!

Great bait. I've caught a bunch of fish on it this year and a bonus 40" 20 lb. + pike. I don't put split rings on them because I'm doing fine without them.

I added split rings per the advice of kazmuskie last year. the bait moves great.

Thnx for the info but, I agree about the foil finish. I bought a glidn rap and had trememendous sucess with it on my first day ever using it. Three musky over 40 inches. I felt weird telling people because I could tell they thought I was lying haha. But, after the first fish the lure was basically destroyed. I understand that musky are a toothy fish but, this was rediculous. After the third fish. The foil was all but gone except for about a half inch spot on the back half. Really, this is a great bait but, cmon the quality is a joke. I emailed rapala and they just said "your response has been sent to our customer service deapartment." For $15 you'd expect a little more durability thank three fish worth.

I have sent them in to rapala and if it looks like fish damage they ussually send you new ones. I've only had one they didn't replace and it was destroyed from an accidental bridge incounter. I really like the ti shad ciscos too more durable and lots more colors.
