If you have a beach below your house with milfoil in it, are you allowed to dredge the lake bottom? I think this requires a permit of somesort.
Thanks

Dredging? Better look into getting a permit. And prepare for thefact that the DNR is likely to say "no way" when you try.

"allowed"?
"permit"?
lol...
i assume what you mean by dredging is raking it clean of all the weeds. people do this all the time in front of their property. it's probably not legal in most areas, but that doesn't mean the lakefront home owners don't do it.

Lakefront owners are doing it all the time...Not dredging but raking the weeds out....Probably need permits but rarely do they get them...Nobody seems to care.......JUST DONT RAKE UP ALL THE CABBAGE....hahaha Muskies like weeds

I'd think that would only help it spread to more areas of the lake. Every little piece could take root. I think you best check with d.n.r.

Here's your answer.

"Please note: the following non-native invasive species may be removed by hand in an unlimited area without a permit:
1. Phragmites [PDF, 66Kb],
2. eurasian water milfoil,
3. curly leaf pondweed, and
4. purple loosestrife"

Thanks for the responses. I meant actual mechanical dredging using a pump. If there is a lot of silt and milfoil present is a vaccum suction pump allowed? It would not spread the milfoil cause the whole plant would be removed from the lake.

Go to the link I posted above & read it! You will most likely have to get a permit.

Good luck.

Doubtfull. Any portion broken off could possibly spread the plant to other areas of the lake. Perhaps you should look into talking to the DNR about putting some of the milfoil removing beetles in your area.
