Blew out the anit reverse on my Record RCN60HC. Overall a decent reel, but the second time this season that this has happened to me. Would like to order a replacement and a spare and fix this myself (sent in to Abu repair the first time). Anybody know which part# to fix this? I think that it is the bearing inside the sideplate where the spool shaft goes through. My diagram does not clearly identify this part. Any help would be appreciated.

Thx

Wow,

Did a little research in the archives and sounds like I'm not the only one that has experienced an anti reverse bearing failure. Found some comments regarding grease contaminating the bearing causing it to not work Cleaned the bearing and still have the problem. Also noticed damage to one of the plastic keepers on the bearing which is probably why it stopped working.

Any tips on removing and resinstalling the bearing would be appreciated. Bearing is pressed in pretty tight and I don't want to break anything when replacing.

thx

The bearing is not replacable by itself, you need to replace the entire sideplate as the bearing is pressed into it.

This is a problem with Records, I've blown two of them, but actually it's pretty common on any reel if you fish with alot of rips and jerks. Slack line jerks with Mag dawgs, big cranks, etc is really tough on the ar bearing.

Both of my AR wrecks have happend on a bad cast. Too bad the whole sideplate has to be replaced. Probably a $25 or $30 part. Mike's reel repair does not have a listing with the price. Will have to call abu on Tuesday.

On the other hand I will say that I miss this reel. Have been using one of my older C3's and the Record is a much better reel (when the AR is not broken). In particular the drag is much better and casting much smoother awith better distance.
