I have a good one. Went out on the river near the house this morning for a quick
shot at a musky. I had raised a pair of fish two days earlier on a small main river
sand bar so I started there. I hurled my spinnerbait out across the bar and began
to bring it back at a good clip when a smallish musky slammed it but didn't hook
up. So I kept it coming but my mind was already on my next cast. Welp, the
first fish's mother showed up about and tried to exact revenge on the bait about
20 feet from the boat. I rotated at the waist to set the hook in self defense and
SPROINGG a nearly new IDX-400a on a 8 foot Pete Maina are airborne and don't
hit the water till they're about six feet from the boat!!! Needless to say I'm left
standing their, mouth agape. Fortunately (??) the fish comes up and throws the
bait in a spectacular leap and I managed to dredge my rod up with a deep diving
crankbait. At least I didn't have to explain to my wife how I lost a $200.00 rod and reel.
