Something I've done for a few years, $4.99 well spent...

Go to your local auto parts store and buy about a foot of 30 R7 3/8" rubber fuel line. (you can use larger diameter too) Cut into 2" pieces. Slide the pieces over the tip of your rods when travelling/transporting them.

I can't tell you how many times I'd have broken the tips off my longer rods whacking them on the ceiling, putting them in my truck, stepping on them in the boat, etc.

To protect rods too long for my rod locker when I travel, I use the kid's swim noodles. Since the noodles are hollow, I just slit them down the middle and form them around my rods. They provide a great cushion and still work well for swimming.

You can also go to any home improvement store and pick up some pipe insulation from the plumbing dept. Works great to! Kdawg
