Ok, I fish in a river below a dam and the average depth I'm fishing is only 4-8 feet of water... I usually throw shallow running grandmas and some bucktails. No luck on the bucktails. Mild success on the grandmas. Any advice is welcome! O and current is mostly slow! Thanks!

Also, bottom has alot of wood/weeds and the water isn't very clear!

SS Shads. Shallow running and a hard wobble. Also, check out some of the smaller Suzy Suckers and Curly Sues. A myriad of colors and very durable. Steve

and like I told you before, some of the nicest fish I've caught there have been on Rapalas - x raps and husky jerks. Think about you're money spent to lures lost ratio and get a good lure retriever. 80 # braid will help you get some back, but the lure retriever will pay for itself after a few trips. I'd much rather throw a $5 rapala into a spot I know I've lost lures before than a $10-$15 Crane, Grandma, Jake, etc. and THINK ABOUT THE BAITFISH PRESENT for colors!

bulldawg, Double D, 6" ernie, Bomber long A mag, shallow invader, 10" jake

You'd be suprised how well you can work all these in the depths you mention and they all can be worked snag free. Just pay attention to your retrieve and dont let the current sweep you into (underwater) snags with a slack line. Usually if you get caught up in a river bottom with decent current, you ain't gonna get em back unless you have a good lure retrieval system. Twitch & rip em with an upward rod stroke and you'll be fine.

Throw a Hawg Wobbler or a Creeper. Especially in low light.

SUICK! Fished spots similar to what you described and the my old 10" suick was the most consistant for both pike and 'skies.

Shallow rivers-Twitchin is the way to go. You already know the best habitat- put a panicked bait in front of em. 7 inch Slammers, Cranes, Jakes, G-ma.

Well you have quite a selection to pick from, I think I would try and "match the hatch" and pick a bait that closely resembles the forage available. Erratic is always good, instead of going out and buying every bait you can find, try varying your technique with what lures you have. Also see if anyone else is successfully picking fish up and see what they are doing and work from there.

Shallow dawgs are great to rip in places like these. I also like to throw swimbaits that I can burn on the top of the water.

9" curly sues. Get the bait into some rip rap and let it hover. With the tail still moving, but the bait going which ever way the current takes it looks just like a wounded baitfish. You can do so many things with them. Straight retrieve, jig 'em, rip 'em, etc.
