Location: Wausau | I see and read a lot about the big fish that are currently being caught on Minnesota's big 3 lakes. It seems every picture or post about these fish is 48" or better, I do not seem to hear much about the next age class in these lakes. Is there a good number of 35 - 42" fish for the next 10 years or are these lakes "peaking" as I have heard mention in other posts and in 5 years these will become dead sea's as far as the numbers of big fish go? Maybe it is just me but I never seem to see a post where someone says they were out on Mille Lacs last night and had a 3 fish day and the fish were 36", 34.5" and a 40". |

Location: Watertown, MN | They are there, I am guessing in its a nature of habit that we talk about big fish. I am wondering which lake is your third, but know plenty of smaller fish in Vermillion and Mill Lacs.

| There are plenty of mid 30's to 40" class fish in Mille lacs...Earlier this year up there I saw 16 fish with 15 of them being in the 35-40 range and one bigger one...So they are there |

| During the months of June and July, we boated several 25" to 36" muskies on Mille Lacs. Where are the 45's? I dunno , but have seen lots of smaller fish this year, more than the last 3 years combined. Just my observation. Oh, and a 30-36" muskie in Mille Lacs is FOOD. Typically nowhere near the big girls. Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | 2006 on V. I averaged 42" fish out of 21 cought, and the bigest was 49"
This yr. ( not many hrs.) the biggest was 43" and most were in the 37"- 39" class, so I'd say Big V is good to go in the future,... Oh I've seen some Huge Tankers that just weren't ready to go.... But they are out there.

I agree with Steve that the smaller fish are FOOD on those lakes. If the big girls are on the prowl the low to mid 30's fish will not be around. Some of the lakes we fish we have days were all we see/catch are mid 30's and other days were all we see/catch are big ones.

Location: Iowa | I boated a 42.5" on Vermillion about a month ago and we saw a couple others in the range but the majority were 45"+ fish that were seen with a few in the 50"+ area and two in the 54" range...

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | There are plenty of sub leagle fish in Vermilion. You tend to see more of them in the smaller back bays than you do out on the mainlake reefs.
