Paydays and Cokes

I must let it be known that I did some shopping for snacks for last weekend's PMTT event.

I saw the Paydays after I reached for the Snickers.

I couldn't pass them up based on the superstition on this board regarding them.

Only problem is, no fish in the boat with Paydays and Cokes.

I would prefer Coors Lights and Frozen Burritos next event, but booze and microwaves are not allowed in the boat.

Who has a lucky snack combination that will help us?

Thanks - Matt Beulke []

Matt, the fact that you first reached for the Snickers incited the wrath of the Pay Day Dude!!! Actually the combo only works below the Mason Dixon Line, wherever that is[;)] ....if you could ever put together a snack combo that would put fish in the boat you'd be ONE WEALTHY DUDE!![:sun:]

Cold hot dogs and chocolate oreos are a sure fire combo. Wash 'em down with a diet Dew and you will be landing them like a champ.

ps: planters dry roasted peanuts might help.........

First of all the preferred muskie snack below the Mason-Dixon line is a "pack of nabs" and a frosty RC.

When fishing in Southern Wisconsin you would have faired much better with cheese curds (fresh & squeaky of course), pickled eggs and a glass of milk. This explains why you never hear of lactose intolerant people doing well in Madison tournaments. I can see by the look on your face that you never thought of it that way before... you learn something new every day - you can thank me later (if at all).

Other possible winning snacks for certain areas in Southern Wisconsin would include, but are not limited to; lefse, boiled fish of almost any kind (except muskies of course), landjagers and string cheese. Most any drink will do however stay away from caffeine-free Mt. Dew because, well what's the point? It will, without a doubt, anger the fishing gods. If you take a sip of the offending liquid by mistake you can counteract the affects by quickly "shot gunning" the emergency can of Red Bull. You do keep an emergency can of Red Bull in the boat don't you? Boaters Tip: The Red Bull can fits nicely into the fire extinguisher holder.

You can never go wrong with Combo's, Beef Jerky, and some root beer to wash that down with. :)

of course, you need to start the day with a big cup of thick coffee!

Just reading Craig's post has me running for the bathroom with my hand over my butt [:0]
I can't believe the stuff you guys eat on the water up there in cheesetown! How do you keep from running from one bathroom to the next?

Lunchbox,

Why do think the water around here is so stained???? Coincidence... I think not. Come up here and fish after learing that will you?

And I also heard a little rumor that not all of your hand is OVER your butt! In fact that wasn't your hand at all - something more above the neckline is what one these other viscious people told me (cause I would never say or repeat anything like that).

Mad In Madison (It's like Sleepless in Seattle but without all the kissie kissie crap - Arnold Schwarzenegger plays me in it),

P.S. This is precisely what makes internet fishing message boards so great. Good sticks sharing quality information so that all can catch more and bigger muskies. That and I like to use the words lefse, string cheese and butt into most of my converstions.

Now I can back up Craigs post with some hard scientific evidence.....Ok, not so hard...Anyway.

Being trained in the profession of Food Chemistry I can speak on this subject. The proteins from the cheese and the milk form a good solid "plug" if you will, which aids in keeping the whole mess from just flowing through the system.

Now however, the secret is a good genetic make up which will bless you with the ability to handle the large quantity of gas produced from the mixing of Landjagers, boiled eggs, fish and of course milk.

If you are not of nordic or German decent I suggest you do not attempt Craigs diet....at least without being in a well ventalated room with a maximum distance to a restroom of approximately 150 feet (plus or minus depending on your quality of protein consumed(see note above on plug) and your muscle control).

Lutefisk and lefsa are for the night before the tourney. It works like smelling salts at 4:00am or if you are a Norwegian, extra horse power at the starting line. Just make sure you partner is next to not behind you. You don't want to throw him over board with the blast. Then in the boat, its choc. donuts with custard filling and bottle of ice cold dew. That first cast is almost always a bird nest.[]

Sunflower seeds.
1 bag of regular mixed with 1 bag of barbeque.
A handfull in your cheek and you're good to go. Learn to spit the shells over the side, or be prepared to clean up the boat. Washed down with Fierce Grape or Fierce Lime Gatorade.
