depends...of course on trips out of your home water yes, 50/50..best way to do it is a big kitty and all costs come out of that so you aren't haggling over who pays for what..just throw the money into a kitty and everying gets paid for with that...
if I'm in Madison the other guy brings the beer/snacks/pop etc and that is fine w/ me....

If I'm going to be out regardless of whether or not they hop in my boat then I won't take anything. I was going to burn that gas anyway so their company is enough payment in that regard. If they insist on giving me something then I'll have them buy me a beer at a tavern.

Planned trips out of the area are always split 50/50....Other than that, when Im on my home waters Im going to be going out anyway and sometimes its just nice to have somebody to BS with I never ask for anything....Although most of my friends alway throw some gas money or buy lunch or something....But I dont ask for it and wouldn't care if they did anything...Like I said I would be burning the fuel whether they were there or not....

When I fish Lake Michigan we always take my buddys boat and when we fish inland we take my boat. We each pay for the gas for our boat. Since we fish Lake Michigan more than inland I usually pay for my trucks gas also when we go on a trip. So far it has worked out fine.
