Location: Ogden, Ut | Had a match on Friday and did pretty good - numbers wise anyway. I'm at a hockey tournament in Rock Springs, WY now with one game left to play this morning. I will need some serious recuperation time after this; I feel old.

| we made a quick trip up to Vilas and Oneida, fishing 3 different small lakes from Friday night through Saturday afternoon before we had to run back home.
moved a couple nice fish, and my partner missed one that hit a Big Joe over 60 foot of water on a deep cisco-based lake. the Big Joe was slashed up pretty good and when we looked at it he said, "do you think i screwed that one up?"
so nothing grabbed my line, but i did get to take a couple good pictures. this one was caught near us on Friday night and we went over to give him a hand with the pictures. his initial estimate was "i think it's 40, maybe 42 inches." lol...it's refreshing to meet someone who grossly underestimates fish size! there's some nice fish to be found in Wisconsin if you know where to look...

Location: Bloomer, Wi | while fishing with Wader on tonka caught this Very healthy 48 1/2" in the first 20 mins on a red/ black dominatrix bucktail which was a 1/2 hour before moon set. also lost 2 and he had a couple oppertunitys at nice fish. That was my first time on the lake, all I can say is I would take Vermillion fishing pressure anyday over the insane boat traffic of tonka.

I'm with you on the pressure that Tonka see's on a daily basis. I live 12-13 miles from Tonka and would rather drive 3.5 hrs to fish Vermilion any day . I haven't been on Tonka for 3 yrs. Perhaps this Fall I'll make a trip or two. Good Luck.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Not really the 'weekend', because we were bringing the PWT Can Am Artificial Challenge Walleye Tournament out of Dryden, Ontario to the World Wide Web and fished just a couple hours when we could; the Goon wasn't horribly stingy.

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | 46 and a 47 3/4 Sunday evening between 7:45 and 8;20. For some reason no pics of the 46 due to camera malfunction. Got the bait I got the 47 from a member here Thanks. It did get new split rings after the catch though she pulled 1 hook off and almost the 2nd. She came about 10' out from the boat just as I ripped the bait up into sight.

Location: WI | Fished 2 different lakes in Washburn cty fri/sat/sun. Had something eat a Suzy Sucker, too bad I didn't notice until later on when I saw the teeth rips all over it. Doh! Had a few hits on a Jackpot, one right at moon rise on friday that I think was a musky.
Sunday morning had a small one (I'm pretty sure it was a musky) on a Topraider but a few seconds into it the bait floated up. A couple casts later going into the fig 8 I had a swirl behind the lure, I think the fish saw me (clear water) and spooked.
Tough going for me this year, I've caught 3 out of about 22 encounters so far but I have been fishing new water a lot. |

Location: Hayward WI | Been on vacation for a week, spent the first half in Hayward, rest in Eagle River. Things were slow overall for me, but my wife got her personal best and my son got his first with a pic. Amy's fish came on the "last cast" of the evening on a top water, with the fish going airborne. My wife was jacked up with the fish on and our son Alex who was along asked "Mom, why do you keep saying oh my gosh?", then when he saw the fish said, "man, that's a mondo fish mom". After that experience, he was ready to go, so the next morning we went to an action lake and he got one and we got his first photo.
Tried the nite bite in Eagle River 8/14-16, but nothing doing. Fished Kentuck, 7 Mile and North Twin. We had a few lookers and Amy also got a 42" on North Twin banging the rocks with a DepthRaider on 8/16.

| Eric,
Great job man, the pictures of your wife and son are cool. I have to tell you this your son with that smile is absolutely killing me. It looks like his front teeth are missing and that smile reminds me of my grandpa who is 92 and was fishing with me this spring when he hooked into a walleye and accidently spit out his top denture. Long story short grandpa caught the walleye and the smile on his face just put me on the floor. That toothless grin made my day. I can only imagine what it did for. Good job and thanks for sharing those pictures.

ROFLMAO!!! CONGRATULATIONS SHALEY! ALWAYS SO GOOD TO SEE ONE OF MY CUSTOM PAINT JOBS SUCCEED OUT THERE IN THE WILDERNESS!!!!
I should have said something about those split rings, my bad. I had that one rigged up early when I was first trying them out, after JLong sent me some of the early prototypes, and had just put hooks on them to check their action and floatation. I had put that one up, and mainly threw one of my other secret special custom colors, red belly pirahna, but I knew those were crappy hangers, had not meant them to be there long term. Glad they didn't completely bite you in the hiney, my name woulda been mud.
PS Don't put up another full pic of the bait, that color will be tough for anyone else to duplicate. Hope you catch 100 on it!

Location: Hayward, WI | Great fish Joe! Looks thick all the way through.
I only made it out for a couple hours in the morning on Sunday. I had a 39-40 nip a Double Cowgirl just as I was starting to take it out of the water at the end of an 8. Of course, it was going to be my last cast on the spot, so I wasn't paying too much attention...they seem to know when that happens. Anyway, I whacked the bait back in the water and started 8ing again, thinking "this never works." I had to have done at least 10 8ts, when out of nowhere it came back and just nipped the rear treble again high and outside just like before. I let the line get tight, set towards the tail, and had a hook in it. Just a second later it shook off.
Guess they don't always want to get caught! |

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Our fishing remains consistant yet random, does that make any sense? Windows varying as far as time of bite, with one or two good fish coming to the net per outing. Weed edges with baitfish are the key, depths ranging all the way from 4 to 18 feet deep. Pounders are the only thing we can trigger strikes with, with several fish in the mid 30 inch range eating those big baits too. Here's some pics from the last 5 days in Vilas/Oneida Counties.

Almost forgot...Congrats to Mark and Clay for taking 1st place in the WMT Manotowish Tourny this weekend!

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Good weekend on the muddy river. Fished a match on Saturday and had a 40 inch chew a hole in the net in the dark while we got the camera ready. I wouldn't care about the pic except that we needed it for the match! Doh! got another decent one and a tiny one and lost a good one. The next two days we boated 4 more fish in a few hours of fishing. The rock bite is finally on!
