| has anyone used a tekota 500 without the line counter for DCG's or bigger blades. I have played around with my tekota 500LC with the big blades and the reel handles them perfect. Just curious what feedback you guys may have? Do they hold up? ETC...

Location: Hugo, MN | Should be fine, pretty low gear ratio, so you'll have a hard time burning anything. However, at normal retrieve speeds the Tekota will have all kinds of torque and will hold up well. The other thing about them is the lever style clutch. I like thumb bars and push buttons myself, but if you're used to the lever, go for it. The Tekota is built plenty heavy for the DCG's. |

| Your linecounter is auto-engaging and the one without is manual-engaging. Don't have a clue why they make em that way, but....
I would just stick with the linecounter for pitcing DCG'S. the counter is out of the way enough to not effect casting/retrieving. Imo, manual engage is really tought when pitching to really shallow cover.

| I run a couple of 600s without the line counter, and I love them. Manually engaging the reel is really no big deal. You'll get the hang of it after a few casts |
