Short and simple. I have a 50 inch shaft 75 lb Motorguide foot controlled trolling motor. NOT digital. I need a 60 inch shaft for my new Alumacraft. Can the shafts be changed to make it a 60 inch shaft without having to buy a new trolling motor. The motor is barely 4 months old. Thanks for any input.

I would think that it could be done, if you don't mind soldering wires together. That's assuming that the shafts are the same diameter. I think you can see a schematic at Mikes Reel Repair. Good luck, and be careful, that might be a ticklish job unless you are good with that sort of thing. Looks like the threads probably have lock-tite on them.

Whare are you located? I think Ed Schilling in West Allis has done this before on MG's. I know he can do it on MK's. Do a search for Ed, and you'll get his info.
