Location: West Chicago, IL | My dad and I are taking a week off August 23-30 to go fishing. We were planning on going to Eagle Lake in Canada but my brother lost his job and can't go with and that is just too far for me to drive with no help. I want to go to Minnesota and am looking for some suggestions. Mille Lacs and Leech are not an options they are too big of water for my dad to handle.

| head to the West Arm of Vermilion.
plenty of big fish, but lots of protected bays, islands, etc. so it fishes pretty easy even in poor weather.
Spring Bay Resort treated us very well a few weeks ago, and offer reasonable rates.

| leech lake area dosent have to be leech
you could cherry pick leech and go on a calm day or theres surrounding muskie waters many to choose- Baby,Wabedo,Ingwadonna,women, little boy,little wolf,,,Your not all that far from Bemidi either,,Big,Lake Bemidji, Plantagenet,the many bays of Cass...

Location: Minneapolis | Life Of Riley resort on Norwegian Bay (west end of Vermilion) was good when I was there several years ago. It's way up a skinny bay, but the run it's also very protected. They have both housekeeping and American Plan packages.
At that time, they did not have much of a catch and release ethic, but they won't frown at you for releasing muskies. |

Location: sauk rapids, mn | My sister in Law has a cabin in the longville area, and we make a trip every year. there are so many muskie lakes there. I personally like Inguadona, but Walker bay on leech has been good in August. I have been to Baby lake, clear water, stay off on a bright day! Wabado has been tough for me in the 3-4 times I have been there.I have heard Woman has to few numbers... can't say for sure. I have always wanted to go to Cass and Lake Bemidji and also a few friends have said Plantanginette, is not a very big lake, but has some very nice muskies. I would check out that area! Good Luck and let us know how it goes. |
