Buddy got one yesterday ( his 2nd and pb) After comaring pics I'm thinking it may be the same fish another friend caught 2 weeks ago. Lightings different but the torn gill and size are the same and relitivly same part of the lake. What do you guys think?

Very cool. You hear about it a lot but don't see too many pictures for a good side by sdie comparison.

Definitely the same fish and another great testament for catch and release. Great to see!

If you look at the first pic just above the guy's right index finger there are two spots in a tight cluster (just above the anal fin). Now look at the same two spots in the second pic. That plus the torn gill makes it, to me, look like the same fish!

It's cool that fish survived the torn gill, however it happened. But that's got to be the same fish. Has to be. That's cool.

Gill was torn before we caught it the first time. The first catch was on a Dawg or Super D ( not sure ) Yesterady was on a DCG on the 8. This is assuming of course it is the same fish, I'm thinking it is.

Should also make people aware the potential of released fish to survive. I have seen several fish like this over the years with gills out, always makes me respect mother nature's survival plan.

Was the fish caught in roughly the same place?

The other thing that is noteworthy on these two pics is the fins. Notice on the first pic the anal fin is split, but on the second pic it is not.

Slit fins seem to heal pretty fast.

I think the fin split does not show because the fin is compressed in the second photo. Looks to be the same fish to me.

Was said to have been caught in the same location. Look at the tail where the two tips come together in the middle, the top has a slight notch just before meeting the bottom in the middle of the tail. I would say same fish.
