Fall is coming and that means it's time for my first major boat purchase!!

Had to check with you guys and get some opinions....

3 boats I'm looking @ are Stratos 1760 (or non-current 375), 1700 Tuffy, or Navigator 175. ....wanting to keep the price near 20,000.$

I was thinking a 115 4-stroke on these but would like to get away with less. .....but the girlfriend needs to be able to ski out of it. (a feature that's last on the list, but absolutely needed!)

Which boat would you choose for Musky fishing? Any other boats you would suggest? Would a 90hp on one of these get a skier out of the water? A 75? ....a 115???

I fish Lotw but am on bigger water at times.

Any tips for a first time buyer would be much appreciated.

Can't speak for the Stratos, but a 90 on a 1700 Tuffy will definitely pull a skier just fine.

i suggest you shop the used market. you can get A LOT of boat ... especially if you are shopping between now and the end of the year.

I can't speak directly for the new 1760, but I spent a week in a 375 last year with a 115 yamaha and was less than impressed. 37 MPH top end with just me. We put 4 adults and a 5 year old in it to go cruising and couldn't get up on plane without sending someone to sit on the tip of the front deck. Great fishable boat, but too heavy for that motor. The 1760 looks a little lighter and I believe is only rated at a 115 so it may be better, but I think a 90 will have you wishing you had more everytime you start it up.

i have a 2008 1760 with a 90 yamaha 4 stroke.it runs 41mph with a 17 pitch ss prop.with 3 people it is a little slugish out of the hole and 38mph top end so i run a 17 aluminum with a full load and it performs great.if i was to repower it i'd go with a 115 and expect to get 45 plus mph.love the boat!fishes great and handles big water easily.
